lilac?gardeners advice.

i`m thinking of planting some lilac bushes on the other side of a post and rail fence to the ponies.they will not be able to reach these shrubs but if the leaves blew about in the autumn would they cause any danger?also,any ideas for any other colourful shrubs for this position?thanks

sorry i have no idea if it ok to be with horses but what a lovely scene that would make... ponies under the lilac lol. my gran always goes on about wisteria it pretty but i dont know if its technically a shrub?

Lilac is very poisonous to horses. Beautiful tree though.
