Yesterday my lovely (silly) Lily had emergency surgery for a pyometra. She was a little off colour on Thursday evening being reluctant to eat her supper and not her usual bouncy self. Friday morning definatly feeling very poorly so I didn't give her. breakfast and bundled her into the van and was siting outside the vets when they opened at 8am. I was very suspicious she had a pyo as it was 2 weeks since she finished her last season. Vets were brilliant making sure she was calm and relaxed by using her thundershirt and pet calm spray. They gave her an ultrasound which confirmed s pyo and by 11am she had undergone an emergency spay. She recovered well enough to come home last night and she slept better than I did on the sofa. Check up today and lily is much much brighter, vet is very happy with her recovery. Fingers crossed she will continue to recover well. I have just ordered her an equafleece jumper so all the shaved bits won't get cold once she can go for walks again.
The silly old lady is determined my credit card will never be clear

oh no, hope she's on the mend soon. They do rather like to give us a fright, don't they. And yes, they know how to rack up the bills. Get well soon Lily!

Glad to hear she's doing well, I feel for you on the expense, my old girl has emptied my account over the last year, but what else is there to spend my hard earned cash on?!

I am pleased to report Lily is going very well, almost her old bouncy self. Sill on antibiotics and metacam, the wound looks to be healing well no bruising, Redness or swelling so all good. Just waiting for her equafleece to arrive so she can have on lead walks.
Thank you everyone for your support

I'm so pleased to hear this news. Having lost an older girl to pyo (she survived the surgery but never really recovered post op and we took the decision to pts), my heart sinks every time I hear of oldies with pyo.
