Well my little Lily went into pre-labour contractions late last night. She had these for about an hour and then all went quiet, so I left her and went back upstairs to bed. Checked on her every couple of hours and she was calm and quiet.

Took her out this morning and she did the speediest wee and then rushed back inside the house and onto her bed.

At 10am she started to have contractions; by 10.15am she had her first puppy, a little girl. About 15 minutes later she had the second, a little boy. Then, over the space of 4 hours she had 2 more little boys and then another little girl. The last puppy was another little boy however sadly he was stillborn and despite efforts to revive him, he did not come to life.

So she has 3 boys and 2 girls; all lovely, healthy, lively and noisy.

Lily dealt with the deliveries like an absolute pro! She was terrific. Kept everything clean, remained totally calm throughout and is proving to be a fantastic mother.

Here is the first puppy making her appearance into the world.

They are just adorable, as is Lily.

Well done to her for producing a cracking brood of pups. Fingers crossed they all grow up to be healthy and happy.

I bet Megan is besotted.

Well done Lilly!!!

Ahhhh well done Lily, she looks lovely and Im sure she will be a great mum! Glad it all went okay (as it can) and they look sooooo cute!

Well done Lily - don't bitches look contented when they are stretched out with a new litter (rather than harassed when they become bigger and squirm and bite)

QR -

Aww thanks everyone. Lily is very proud of her puppies and is being a very good Mummy. She keeps them very clean and although there is a slight puppy-smell, it is not unpleasant at all....more a fresh milky smell. The minute the start to stink, I'm afraid they will have to move somewhere else as I don't want the house to reek...

Lucy, you can understand why I wasn't exactly jumping for joy about having them inside the house lol!! However, as I say, she's doing a great job.

I have been told that we are keeping one of the puppies - my daughter has decided on one of the little girls, so we will be thinking up another flower name at some point in the next few weeks.

Here are a couple of photos I took on Monday; they are bigger again today, but haven't had a moment to update photos.

Our puppy is the one closest to Lily's head here;

Now with the puppies being here, we are even more busy and the schedule is a little manic whatwith having to come back in and take Lily out for a walk every couple of hours; but all in all, so far I'd say it was worth it. Not enough to want to do it again I don't think, but a worthwhile experience.

All puppies have been chosen and reserved, so that I am thankful for as all the homes are with people I know well and they adore Lily so I know they will give the puppies great lives. All buyers have been told that if they have any problems or can't have their dogs any more, for whatever reason, then I will take them back. We have a large property so a few more dogs isn't a big deal - particularly ones they are all living back outside.

Anyway, I'm off on my travels again - Christmas shopping to do today, inbetween walkies of course!!

Hope all is well with you guys and everyone who helped me and gave me advice - many, many thanks once again.

They look very healthy. I love the spot on your pups head.

Hebe is a plant name, also in greek mythology she is a woman who can make men young again, the daughter of Zeus and Hera.
