Does anyone know how long horses should be off the fields after lime has been put down? Farmer (who owns yard) spread lime pellets yesterday evening, that is really as much as I know. He is super vague when asked when they can go back on LOL so just wondered if anyone on here knew?
There is little white pellets in the fields so I presume we need to wait till they break down, we had heavy rain this morning but they are still there. Then after they are away can they go straight back on or do we need to leave it for a little while.
Thanks!

Some people will graze cows straight after liming or pop them back on after it rains but cows have a better stomach going for them than horses
Lime itself tho is natural so won’t be bad for them

There seems to be little white pellets left behind, should I wait for them to dissolve? There has been quite heavy rain most of the day thought that would have cleared them!

Limestone flour used to be a common addition to horses feeds so I wouldn't panic too much. Is there good grass coverage or are the fields quite bare?
The fields are quite bare so my concern was they would essentially be grazing right on the lime. I am probably overthinking this massively lol but I did think if the grass was longer it wouldn't seem like such an issue.

Sorry guys another field related question, turns out the lime was in prep for fertiliser which went on last night. Farmer says horses ok to go back on the fields tomorrow (been heavy rain today) but kept referring back to cows being ok to go back on lol. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought it was 7 days off the grass after fertiliser applied. I can't actually tell you which one he used which I realise isn't ideal! But just wondering a rough time scale

Thanks guys, did kind of think that. Has been many years since our fields have been fertilised and honestly couldn't remember! Keeping my guys in, don't feel comfortable turning out so soon!
