Why bother ? buy a youngstock feed meant for foals, feed the recommended amount and the baby will get the correct amount of vitamins in a simple and probably more cost effective way.
I know someone who religiously feeds oats, proper sugar beet (not the un molassed stuff) a spoon of LF and a glug of oil to all of her youngsters that are intended for racing careers until they go into training. They always look great, are often winners and I've not heard of any that have ever been retired early due to soundness problems over many years. That old fashioned menu is also very quick and easy with the benefit of being cheap which has a lot going for it when you compare it to specialist feeds made to cater to our whims and empty our pockets.
I have to be honest though and say I feed Suregrow to my youngsters - but nothing else other than good hay or haylage and fair grazing!
Yes I do & that is because our soil is poor. On speaking to the vet despite feeding D&H stud mix with Alfa A (sugarbeet in winter), we add Limestone flour to our feeds.
yeah i feed my mare in foal all the way through and still now feed mare and foal and have done seens he was about 2 wks old also feed foal mix and 24 hoir sugar beet
