Limited grazing

I'm worried sick. Recently purchased around 4 acres. I have one 15.2, one 14.3 horses. And two 13.2 ponies, plus one shetland pony. I couldn't get extra land for the money I have available.

I know I will probably get criticised for it but I did do alot of reading online, some countries don't even have grass for their horses, so this is why I'm hoping I've not made a massive mistake!

The paddocks are extremely well drained, the horses are all EXTREMELY good doers (laminitics!) So I do generally want them on minimal grazing. A friend laughed at me and said it will never work.

I also have field shelters for ALL of them, which I thought I could use as stables if needed. I hay and feed them. I poo pick daily and will reseed/rotate if and when needed.

There is also a possibility that an extra 2 acres could be come available, which I may be able to purchase at a later date.

Guess I'm looking for reassurance, I would never, ever let my horses go without food, even if that means supplementary feeding year round!

Has anyone else managed in a similar situation? Thanks.

It sounds fine to me. I currently have 3 horses on on 0.7 acres September-April. I know it's only part o f the year but it's really not a lot of land! I operation a track system with feeding stations and moving fences and the horses have never looked better.
