Hi, first time I've ever posted in here! I have a rhodesian ridgeback, who's going to be 7 years old in June! recently he's been quite badly limping on his right shoulder, and it's especially bad once he's gotten up from lying on a chair or sofa, or when he's been walking for a really long time (like 2/3 miles) he doesn't seem too unhappy, but it just looks painful! does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? i guessed it was arthritis, but not entirely sure! any info and/or advice much appreciated thanks! chocolate if you've made it this far!! xx

My friends dog is in a similar situation. I think she said he was just putting too much weight on it and it was quite weak (he's not overweight or anything). It was especially bad after it was laid on, althought this dogs older than yours (10ish)

Have you checked the pads, toes etc for any injuries etc. As in horses, there can be a lot of different reasons for lameness in dogs. If unsure, a trip to the vets maybe called for.

its stiffness, perfectly normal in big types of dogs, i have a cane corso mastiff/ am staff age 5/6, to be honest looks like more of a rhodesian, when the joint have worked hard and then suddenly relaxed for a period of timee they become stiff, it will soon subside but it happens too my buster all the time, some joints tablets will help with the extent of the stiffness.
