I have a 7 year old male schnauzer and he limps.

He only does it occasionally, after he gets up after a long kip or during a walk.

Now he has seen the vet who cant see anything wrong and has manipulated him etc but he didnt want to do xrays etc as he said that if he was bad he would limp all the time.

I took him out for a mega walk the other day (to try to make him lamer so vet could see again). I rode merly and the kids took their bikes..... we must have gone for 6/7 miles. Now for the last couple of miles he limped quite badly but after a short rest at home he was fine again, and he didnt limp at all the next day.

I just wondered if anyone had any ideas at all????

My minature limps sometimes, we think it is because she sometimes gets saw between her pads due to the amount of hair she has (although she looks sooo cute with a bear cut). Again like you nothing to show for it but she does tend to lick her foot quite alot after she's been limping but is sound afterwards.

He doesnt lick his feet but does sometimes get matted between his pads, he doesnt like them clipped though :grrr:

I worry that he limps after laying on his bed for a long time though

I do give him a joint suppliment too.... forgot to add that earlier

I know it looks awful, but in a way sooooo sweet

Could it be arthritis? My Rottie had it and it was worse after exercise. She had it in her toes and was controlled by painkillers.

I thought it could be, but assumed that he would stay crippled after the long walk/run

but within about an hour he was fine!!

I thought he would stay stiff

But I suppose it would explain why he can get off the bed after doing nothing and limp!!!

My Beastie is the same, she's also 7 so I'm going to start giving her a joint supplement. Perhaps your little cutie would benefit from something like that? (Beastie says the offer of some of her beard still stands

Sorry! Devils Claw is a good one as well

How long has he been on it?

Well she says she'd find him much more attractive with a beard so would like your address asap! Lol

He he.... will send it soon..... need more beastie pics though, Zak is very fussy!!! Not so keen on beards on ladies

He has only been on it a couple of weeks, before that I was giving him merlins joint stuff

dont worry I checked it was ok

But he hated it and wouldnt eat his food.

This one is a capsule and he has it for his bed time treat!!!

Does the devils claw work as a painkiller too???

I am going to start some insurance for him and then get a different vet to check him out thoroughly.... mine seems reluctant to do so for some reason...... prob the main one is that he has never seen him limp :grrr: He recovers as soon as we get the lead out.... will have to take the vet out on a walk with us
