linda parelli video ?

I think there was a big thread about this particular video. All I can say is how can the owner stand there and let that happen to her horse??:(

I couldn't watch all of it. Its so upsetting (IMO). I hate the way she throws that rope around, and was she actually hitting the horse on the rump with it?

I was always taught that busy feet mean busy mind... that horse didn't not stop moving at all, and when is did try to rest, she went at it with "the rope"!! He's not een allowed to look at anything!!

It is an extract from the older set of Parelli level 1 instructional DVD's. Yes, there has been a lot of debate about it. I'm only surprised it took a couple of years before it started.

Whether it has been seen before on the forum or not is irrelevant we should keep this at the front of our mind when we think of these "gurus" of NH.

I agree 100% with their motto ''Success without FEAR, leadership WITHOUT dominance'' but they must practise what they preach. Also backing a horse at 2 yo is irresponsible IMHO.

Well obviously attacking a clearly frightened horse will make it trust you, didn't you already know that?

In all seriousness it is quite blatently cruelty, and only because it's got Parelli stamped all over it people seem to be able to defend their actions an intentions. Calling it understanding, natural or any other terminology they use does not make it right, this is only one example of clear abuse of a horse, an obvious lack of basic understanding of horses behaviour and practice of some quite ridiculous methods. As you can tell i don't like Parelli i'm open to suggestions when it comes to horsemanship but Parelli is utter rubbish. (IMO)

If the Parelli-ites viewed an almost identical video, the only difference the "trainer" being unrecognisable and dressed in competition wear, I am quite certain they would express outrage despite the identical nature of the "training".

That horse has more patience that I ever could have. I have no idea what she's trying to achieve, so if I weighed hundreds of kilos, I'd be off into those trees with her trailing at the end of the rope!

i know im blond;).....but that just baffled me:confused::confused: what exactly was she trying to achieve.
would have absolutly wet myself if the poor horse just turned round and booted her:D:D now that i would pay to see

Miss Rose....Must be a blonde thing as I dont get what the purpose of that was either :o

However what I saw was enough to make me REALLY want that poor horse to turn round and give her both barrels

Its a partially sighted horse going by the header of the video which makes it even worse if that is possible.

Yet another shining example of why I would never ever practice Parelli.

Its cruelty/abuse disguised as "Natural Horsmanship" as far as I am concerned.

Sick, Sad, depressive and ludicrous.

Thats how I see that video. If it was my horse I would have melted HER one with the end of that leadrope (or have they found another fancy word for it so they can sell it for $100???

Yep, so thinking about the order of the page you link to in your earlier post, it might make more impact if you focus on recent events first rather than a very old video. People change, and none of us know if Pat P would take part in a similar competition with young horses again, but we do know what he does now. Just a thought to help with your campaign maybe. :-)

I have given it a new page as I can't move it down the list (don't know how), thanks for the tip :)

Well, that's interesting innit? I think the arguments against In A Whisper were about the age of the poor little 2 year old horses and the intense work they were put through. So it would be interesting to know wouldn't it?
Yes, I think those were the main substantive objections to the In A Whisper competition - plus the fact that the whole show was being staged as entertainment, to make money, and to bolster egos.

It looks the Road to the Horse competition isn't quite as intense - there are two sessions in two days, and the equine participants don't look like babies - although the money/entertainment/ego components are still there. The proof of the pudding will be in the watching...
