Does anyone know anything about it?

Vet suspects this is Stitch's newest ailment - he has a 6 inch vertical line (perfectly straight) of scabs/lesions on his quarters. They are sore to touch though which apparently isn't normal.

I've tried the internet but can't really find much about it that's of use. And the vet has only read an article on it so really isn't sure himself.

If things get worse or it doesn't clear up (he's been treated with Flamazine for the last 7 days) the vet has suggested a biopsy.

ANY info appreciated.

Never heard of it JJJ though my horse developed something called superficial keratosis which is lesions on the surface of the cornea. Sometimes with scientific things you can get a different perspective if you google American websites. Wondered if you had tried that? Strange that your vet has made a diagnosis purely on the basis of an article s/he has read? Call me cynical but it could be something much simpler and more common. The definition of common ailments is that they are common! Could ned have just got a nasty field injury that is slow to heal? I'd be tempted to get a referral to an expert centre. Good luck with it and hope ned gets better soon x

Yeah, I am of that line of thought but:
The scabs are forming in a perfect straight line and are spreading which takes out the explanation of it being an injury.
The vet suspects this condition due to the perfect straight line, original he'd thought chemical burn but this would be impossible a. he wears rugs so there would be evidence on the rug and b. it would have to be deliberate and he is in a very visible area on the yard so something woudl be noticed.

I'm not worrying as even if it is this apparently it's not that bad, just cosmetic which we can live with.

Fingers crossed it's just a coincidence re the striaght line and he'll sort himself out. Time will tell.
