As above, am looking for a heavy duty clipper as a replacement, and have narrowed it down to the above. Can anyone recommend, or equally recommend anything else which can cope with thick coats.

And which blades would be best for a coarse coat, but also give a close as possible finish?

Thanks in advance.

Just to throw something else into the mix, have you looked at Lister Legends? I really like the finish they give to coats, easy clean/set up and can cope easily with thick coats.

I have the lister star, lovely clippers and leave a nice finish (also very light so no achey arms!) but i've found they are no good for really thick coats. I have two connemaras and I have to take their bums off in layers as they can't get through the thickness.

I have the lister liberty battery clippers, they do a full clip including legs and hog twice a month all year round, I have a hairy Beastie, they never seem to struggle, I use both fine and medium blades, both give a good finish.

Great, thanks. Do you use the medium coarse, or just the medium?
