I had my first jumping lesson in 6 months today. 
I was quite nervous as my confidence had pretty much deserted me but I needn't have worried - Beau was awesome and jumped nicely even when I hit a duff stride into the first fence. Sorry, Beau.
My RI was rather cruel.
He kept putting the fence up and it went from a lovely confidence-building 75cm to a 1m oxer at a decent width. We literally jumped in at the deep end.
I was told to ignore the second jump and just concentrate on getting a nice canter without sending any of the canter poles flying.
He jumped so big that my knee was starting to get a bit sore so we called it a day after 30 minutes. I could probably have done with popping my stirrups up a bit.
I know I need to concentrate on sitting quietly and letting the jump come to us. Watching the video, I can see a difference when I do.
I also noticed that my hands creep up when Beau gets a bit excited. He has a tendency to run away with me and I'm having to learn how to ride him again - this is only my third lesson since I started riding him again so I don't think we're doing too badly. I would like to think that Martin would have said something if we were.
