GGGRRRR. Was putting jumps away last night and noticed that in a corner of our jumping 'field' (I use the term loosely) there were at least 8 empty bottles and crisp packets, obviously left their by kids.

This drives me CRAZY

Do these kids have NO respect?! Honestly, some of these kids don't even have their own ponies, someone is kind enough to let them ride theirs - at that age (about 9 or ten) I would have been so pleased to ride someone elses horse I wouldn't dare disrespect the place where it is kept!

It really makes my blood boil. They get dropped off at yard 9am on a weekend and left their all day. Hence chip wrappers and cans left on the yard. (Plus they ride the poor ponios into the ground but that's a different rant!

And the YO either doesn't notice or turns a blind eye!!!!

Fortunately we are leaving soon

- not soon enough!!!

** just re-read this and I sound like an old fart! I'm really not - I honestly think ponios should be fun but some respect would be nice**

See our whole yard is basically kids and we dont have any of these problems purely because there is a small element of fear of the YO! does them some good! If anyone left litter anywhere we would end up with an hours talk on why we shouldn't litter, then if the culpirt is seen an hour of tack cleaning!

Thing is - you can't shout at them else you get angry parents on your case. It's a nice yard, there's just no discipline - I wish YO would sort it out.

It just makes me mad that tehy think it is acceptable to just throw things on the floor! And I am paying for the place (in livery fees, of course...) some of them are not!

Jess - this is what we need - a bit of fear from the YO!

Works well at our yard there is the soft one on the husband and wife team the the stern one, she never does much is a pussycat really once you get to know her, but the kids dont know that

See Im going to sound like an old fart here too, but Im sure when I was young we just didnt DO that.. like you say, we were so greatful to be allowed near a fricken horse, also worked our little butts off for the privilege, so I suppose that helped us to appreciate it. Grr.. youth of today eh? *puts on slippers and toddles off with walking stick*

we dont have any kids on our yard they are all adults and it is really nice,no bitching etc and everyone keeps their patch clean and tidy, there is a bin in the tack room of wich everyone uses, even our loo in tack room is spotless,we have signs up keep yard tidy etc and it works, weve had a few though over years and we tell them straight or their out !!!!!! no messing here !!

I agree, have the same problem at my yard, the kid 'helpers' leave rubbish everywhere (there are plenty of dustbins, they just can't be bothered to use them!), also most of them are extremely lazy and are far more of a hindrance than a help, but that's another rant as you say!

Lol Blackhawk - It's probably just the same as last year TBH, just felt like having a rant. Do try talking to them and sometimes it works - just don't want vengeful parents on my case!
