It never feels like there's enough to update/share after each comp and I've been competing on my own this year (OH has been working every weekend) so not many photos but as Fizz's last race of the season was the other week I thought I'd do a bit of a summary of her first season doing Open Flyball.
Our first comp of the year was meant to be her open debut but they cancelled open racing because of the weather so we ended up joining another team so she got a run. Fizz doesn't do bad weather/mud but at least with it being starters she could wear her jumper :rolleyes3: This was also when we discover that the other team shouting 'Ready' isn't conducive to whippet racing
She was fine against a different team
But this was when we were against a team who were revving the dogs, she jumped the back board, into the other lane and chased the other dog :redface3:
May saw our eventual open debut...she helped her team come first and no dog chasing just some issues with blue lane (she gets the ball turning towards the other dogs, gets competitive and runs down the side as it's faster :lol
Her second open was at a steam fair which she coped amazingly with, we were a team of 4 so she ran every race and besides the fact we broke out every single race she did me proud. It meant we set a new seed time for our team which made things difficult in terms of Champs but we had a team reshuffle and decided to only take 2 of the 3 teams to give us the best chance.
Then our home competition which was her first competition in her Champs team, we don't know what was up but she was not herself. She only ran two races and no silliness but she was really lack luster and just not up for it however the team came first
Our last competition before Champs saw a morning of hammering rain which the diva did not approve of, complete with coming to a stop under the marquee  She raced well in the afternoon when the sun came out and the team came 2nd.
This was the morning
That took us to Champs where she was back on form, raced her heart out but found the turbo button so any race she was in we broke out. We ended up 4th but most importantly she coped with the covered lanes and atmosphere perfectly.
(photos have been purchased!)
That brings us to our last competition of the season, she very much enjoyed being back with her mates and ran every race...she even got faster in the afternoon! We ended up coming second which was a lovely way to end the year.
All in all she's really done me proud this year and she's coped with the move up to open really well. She isn't an all weather dog which we already knew would be an issue and we're hoping to try her indoors in November to see how she copes (the noise may be an issue) but otherwise we just have some training then she's having a well deserved holiday
