Nothing conclusive at this stage.

He's staying for the weekend whilst they do a Bute trial (this is me saying it in laymans language!).

So, we await Monday's results.

My head hurts.

Blimey hun, it must be very hard still not knowing, it is so hard not knowing what the problem is. Fingers crossed that they get to a conclusion very soon x

My mare has been diagnosed this week with sacrolliac problems.

Monday had bone scan which had uptake in this area. Wed had x rays which showed some boney changes (but nothing too drastic). Yesterday they nerve blocked the area and the difference was enormous (she was unlevel and her way of going was odd before).

Only option for her are expensive steroid injections at least twice a year to keep her in work. Or retire. She's only 5!

Oh poo G23. So sorry hun :(

I lost my first girl at four. It's pants.

Dizzy has bony irregularities on her pelvis, and secondary damage to both rear suspensory ligaments. She came sound and has stayed that way, so far.

It's so hard. I feel for you. Hugs.

how did you bring Dizz sound?

I've been told she's only manageable to ride with steroid injections. It will never cure.

Didn't do anything.

History:

Had known of her for a year before I bought her.

Saw her frequently for about two or three months before I bought her.

Got her home on the 20th December.

Rode four times in ten days.

New Year's Eve, she came in lame.

Tried box rest for a couple of weeks, no improvement.

Tried turnout in small paddock, no improvement.

February 2009: Sent to Rossdales at Newmarket for a full work up.

Determined bony irregularities on her pelvis and secondary damage to her hind suspensory ligaments.

She came sound whilst at Rossdales though.

They sent her home to me, to try and get her lame so they could nerve block etc., to determine how much were the suspensory ligaments and how much the pelvis.

She stayed sound. A funny action - lifting her right quarter higher than the left, tracking to the right of her forefeet, but vets considered her sound, so we kept going.

I wasn't allowed to school, or to canter. Had to ride in straight lines. Could only start to canter when could trot for forty miniutes sustained. No jumping!

Lots of hacking. Lots and lots of it. Hours of it.

Went lame July-ish (2009), for no apparent reason.

Sent her to the Animal Health Trust, expecting that the news was going to be bad.

In the week it took to get her there, she came sound and stayed that way. The AHT worked her hard and she stayed sound. They could add nothing to what Rossdales had done/said.

So now she is still sound....

Occassionall she'll go lame on the back end, for maybe a week, but nothing that one can put a finger on. Drags her hind toes sometimes. There is nothing that can be done, so we just go with it. When she is sound she is worked, when she isn't then she is rested. We've just started jumping - no idea how it's going to go. I bought her to BSJA - she is insured for LOU, so I will need to find out very soon if she is likely to stand up to jumping those types of courses or not. Part of me worries, but part says she enjoys it, give it a go.
