So will try and keep it short - unfortunately today went cr*p!

Did an ok test for him, bit tense and tried to do walk to canter when I was meant to trot then canter in nxt bend! Scored 38 only scores up so far had 40's

Showjumping he was great the best round we have done together just to tap one pole with his hind.

On to the XC and prob coul dhave got placed with a clear - he was great all the way round till number 15 & 16. an arched spread dwn to a skinny pimple. And the arch was up a hill on stride and I thought hmmm he might not like that knowing he likes to be sure of ground in front of fences etc.

Anyway took that and he a cr*p stride and he stopped

cue me falling off and him squashing my right leg between him and the fence ouch. got back on to clear the rest but have cried from then till now!! Am so gutted.

And am nursing 2 eggs on my leg and ankle

what a sh*t end to the season!

Have BSJA and dressage in a few weeks so hopefully I can do well and cheer myself up!! and my mother! who is fuming!

sorry to hear that, its not a nice feeling to finish the season on that sort of note...but focus on your best ever SJ round and your competitive dressage score - they're both big pluses! ...and make sure you nurse your leg better

So sorry to hear that Holly.
After last week, I really thought today would be in the bag.
Dont feel too bad, youve come so far in a short space of time. Your not a Professional who rides many different horses every day.
A nice winter bsja and hunting will soon sort you out
smile.gif
and youll be very hard to beat next season.
Also try (although I know its real hard) to make sure you are doing this for yourself and NOT your mother! you are putting added pressure on yourself! I know, as I do it myself because of my father!

oh Holly what a rubbish day!
Have you got any aloe vera gel around, if so start putting it on those eggs right away and the pain will soon reduce as the swelling goes down.
Not the end to the season you wanted I know, but other results have been good so try not to mull over it too much.
Only another four something months to the next season to go, start planning now..

I know me too - think I should have taken the alternative but hindsight is a wonderful thing!!

Unfortunately he cant go hunting as he is your typical hot headed TB! And will not stand still!! But I will take Spider and will BSJA him starting this Sunday!!!

The way I see it is this- only one teeny little mistake was made here today- everything else sounds as though it was brilliant, 95% perfect in my eyes, so I think that deserves a big well done!!

You're still a new combination and you mustn't beat yourself up. I agree with BBs, forget what Mum thinks - just be positive and start planning next season. You have all winter to iron out the wrinkles

Agree not the best end to your season and I am sure you did not fall of on purpose! If your mother is so cross about you falling off then may be she should ride the horse and show you just how you should be doing it, you dont need that kind of pressure, as you say you have already beaten yourself up about it.

I know hat it would have been nice to finish the season on a high but don't beat yourself up too much. It will take time to know your horse inside out XC. Try to look on the bright side, no broken bones and your collar bone held up ok! And remember we do this for fun.
I gave up hunting my mare as she was a nightmare and wouldn't stand still just wanting to get on with it ! I normally try to line up a clinic before the start of the season just to make sure that I'm ready.

Hi Holly!

That doesn't sound like you did that bad at all - you have only had him 5 mins - I'm sure next year once you know each other a bit better you will be flying round all 3 phases.

If you fancy a night off the mother, you can always come round mine for a curry and a dvd one night?

x

Poor Holly!
Hope your leg is feeling better soon, perhaps you could take him XC schooling somewhere just to reinforce the fact that you are a good combination...was just one mistake, and unfortunate it was at last event.
At least you know what happened...I fell off FLo at hunt ride on Sat, and can't remember a thing about it (and spent the night in hospital which was horrible).
At least you are both (nearly) in one piece, and you will know each other so much better by next season.
