Im very happy with the change, and just to top it off, he won his class today (first top 3 placing, AND first win- very clever pony :) )

Rem the pics... So what magic things did you feed and how long for such a change? Looks amazing, well done!

Actually competition mix!! *shockhorror*
A nutritionist has seen him and we upped his normal comp mix (spillers response slow release) as it is very calorific. He was already being fed adlib roughage, sugarbeet, oil, balancer etc. so trying to pump any more into him would be useless as it would be exceeding his appetite. The mix is pelleted so is already processed and we are splitting it over 3 meals to make it safer to feed. Carbohydrate only causes problems when not enough roughage is fed in conjunction, and when the starches can get through the small intestine undigested, when you remove these risks it is quite safe to feed for a short time as ive done with him. He has had his mix upped from 1kg a day to about 2.5kg a day and has been on this diet for around 4 weeks. We are hoping when he puts a bit more weight on we can cut the carbohydrate back again as he wont need as much energy to maintain weight as to keep it on.

Id highly recommend using a nutritionist for feeding help and advice, i wouldnt have thought to increase carbohydrate as it seems against all rules of feeding, but it was what he needed :).

Thankyou for the nice comments, its very encouraging :)
