It's three weeks yesterday since Patches was shod and three weeks today since her hocks were treated and she started her Adequan and hyonate injections. She had three days off after her hock treatment but has basically only had one or two days a week off owing to weather since then. All work has been at hack on the roads, apart from one long reining session, owing to wet fields. Hacking ranges from 1 1/2 hours (when I'm pushed for time) to 3 1/2 hours on weekends with short bursts of trot at times to settle my new found fizzy ponio!
My nice vet came today for injection round number 3. He asked me if I'd noticed anything different. Besides her being more forward going, feeling as though she swings through from behind better, more springy and the dragging almost non-existent in walk, I mentioned that normally by now her hind feet would be worn flat across the toes. He had a look at her feet and said there was minimal wear to her shoes and feet. Additionally it was noted there's no wear to the outside edge of the hind shoes. She normally wears them as thin as knife edge. They are now worn evenly.
Even if I thought I was imagining the improvement in her gait, her shoe wear behind backs up my own thoughts.
