Hi all, does anyone know if anyone makes a big version of the cub Shetland pony saddle?? We have a 13'2 welsh type who is fairly wide and 13'2 hands being ridden by a small 5 year old. Generally she is a good girl but at times can be a proper pony and throw in a little buck or try to pull him forward and i think it would be helpful for him to have a rigid easy to grab handle. The other two riding her are 7 and 9 so they can just get on with it but she's quite a big pony for a little child but shes all we have and I'm certainly not buying another :)

Thanks.

I use a pelham rounding across the D's as that remains fairly rigid and stands up from the saddle. We use it for the young horses well as the young riders, an extra something to hang on to if necessary!

Big vote for the Wintec kids saddle. We use them on two very differently shaped ponies with different sized riders and they are perfect in both cases. Haven't tried them on anything bigger than a 12hh (who is very very wide) but could put one on our 13h2hh later, if you're interested, just to check its not too small ......

I bought a "balance strap" of ebay for £9.50. Goes on to the D rings and there we go a handle. :D Good leather quality. Seen one in our tack shop but it was synthetic.

One of our sharers saw it and bought one for herself as she isn't very confident cantering and horse had mane off ;)
