For those that are interested, since I last posted Springy has had a visit from the vet and the physio and the outcomes are:
Vet
-Teeth good and no probs (quick rasp done)
- Sound
- No sore spots on back
- Normal reflexes
- Recommended physio visit
Physio
- Evenly muscled, sound and no major issues
- Tight on right side of poll
- No probs with back, a bit stiff but not sore or uncomfortable
- Tightness in her hamstrings
So upshot seems to be that she may have pulled a hamstring and which is making it uncomfortable for her to step under and strike off in canter. The physio feels that the injury is now healed but has left her feeling tight in her quarters. She has had some treatment and a rest and I am now bringing her back into work slowly. Today was my first ride (I have invested in a racesafe back protector
), she had a quick lunge to let off steam and then walked and a little trot in the manege. She was very very good and I think she is glad to be working again. We went on a very short hack to loosen her off and she loved it - strode out with her ears pricked.
So fingers crossed we have nailed the problem and I will soon have my fun pony back again
I am certainly feeling more positive.
