Hi.
After losing my horse on wednesday I went up to the yard earlier. Brought my horses stable mate into her stable and gave her a groom. Had a cry and felt better for it. Most of the liveries that were up there were very kind and sympathetic.
I know Ive complained before but today the YO was a cow. She was being very insensitive and mean and made me upset so I put the pony back out and went home.
Got home to find the YO from another yard I looked at when considering moving my horse had left a message saying I was welcome to have the stable I had reserved. She was very kind and said she would keep the stable for me.

I know its very soon but I really miss riding and grooming already, I have started looking at horses and found a few nice looking youngsters but feel guilty for moving on..
I have come into some money so would be able to buy my own horse, so should I?
Also should I cut my ties with the old yard at last, theres nothing there for me now, and should I move to the other yard with better facilities when I buy a horse?
 
If you have just lost your horse it is very insensitive of the YO to be mean to you, if you are going to buy another it would make sense to have a completely fresh start in a new yard with a caring owner that will support you, so I would definitely move once you are ready to look for a new horse.
As for feeling guilty about looking it may help you to have a new focus but do not be in a rush, take your time and decide what type of horse really you want, look at several and take someone with you, possibly the new YO or someone from the new yard, most people enjoy horse shopping and will be happy to go with you for moral support and an extra pair of eyes is always useful.
 
When I lost Tigs I thought I'd never have another. I was lookin a week later! There was such a large hole in my life and I knew Tigs was forever in my heart. Apart from getting a bit upset when it was a long chestnut neck in front of me instead of a dark Appy neck, my new horse made me whole again. She's not Tigs, never was and never will be, but she's Dizzy and I love her.
 
I agree, take your time in looking, and another pair of eyes is always good. Reserve your new yard place and look forward to the future!

I lost my girl on the 28th of January and took a friend to see what was out there and as of last Friday I now have a coulered cob called bailey and it may be quick but I feel like me again . he is not Kali never will be , I did not want a copy Kali as she is forever in my heart and in my photos but he's perfect for me if I had waited I may not of found him.

This is very true, when I lost my boy I thought the same, but I was lost after having horses all my life, two months later I found Ebony, she will never ever replace Midnight, they are both special in very different ways. If it is meant to be then it will happen.

Regarding the yard issue, I would move and make a fresh start.

In a word the answer to both questions is 'yes!' imo.

Only you know when is the right time for you to start looking for another horse and I certainly wouldn't go back to the same yard next time.
 
Thank you guys. I know I cant replace my beloved horse and would never try to. I have reserved the stall at the new yard :) Going to look at a horse next week with my horsey friend and the new YO :)
