Well Atty is settling in well.

He was good as gold for the farrier to put his shoe back on, on Tuesday. Very impressive since we believe it's only the second time he's ever had a shoe put on. Unfortunatly the whole lot will have to be re-done later next week as the hoof angles are not good.

He's being very good being turned out as long as there is another horse in sight, if there isn't he gets quite upset. This isn't a problem as there are enough horses on the yard to keep him company.

He's eating his food well, we've switched him over to Simple Systems feed which is what the other Andy's have and he's doing fine.

He has a new turn out rug that acutall fits across his huge chest and covers his bum, will have to get some piccies of him in it as it is Bright Aqua Green

Well it was either that or Pink!

Tomorrow is my first time for a sit since he's been home ! Will try and get some piccies.

The Fal Slumberdown turn out plus a neck cover to go with it still came to just under the £100 Mark

But If I get the winter weight rug for later on the neck cover will fit it to.

Oh and the hole in his gum from his little op seems to be healing nicely. We are trying to keep it clean whilst not fiddling with it too much so it can get on and heal properly.
He doesn't seem bothered by it in the least.

Rug looks good. I need to glean these bits of info as (as you know) I have 2 strapping lads to clothe!

The gum thing seems to be healing up nice and quickly, I think mouths do heal faster and thankfully theres less chance of dirt getting in too.

Bet you cant wait to get on him again!

I can't wait but.... the only saddle that fits him is the Yard Owners Brand new never been sat in one, which I am loathed to use.

She does have another saddle which is close enough for now so might see if I can use that instead. Am leaving YO alone this week as she has her Stallion in some big classes at the Suffolk Show today so I figure she needs to concentrate on that (and it's his saddle I'm after using) .

Hmm dare I try bareback

LOL if you were 12 you would hop up on there no probs but now we are older I think we like a bit of substance under our bums!!

nearest I get to being 12 now a days is 12 stone

He's quite wide and there's those big shoulder in front so I would guess he'd be quite comfy. But really don't think it would be a good idea. Best to borrow a saddle i think. Saddle fitter is booked but June 12th is the earliest she can come out. Odd on then I have to wait for Saddle to be made.

I will put money on you needing a made to measure with him Ali, and possibly an odd girthing arangement as well!

you mean like oh about 4 girth straps plus breast girth.

The acutall thing is the YO's brand new one is a spot on fit (although haven't ridden in it yet so that could change). But it was custom made for her stallion. Have already rang the tack shop the saddle fitter works for to tell them but am not sure the message got through.

So will have to patient and wait and see.
