I am trying to make a list of suitable stallions for my section a mare for next year.Im wanting to produce a sports pony type.I have looked at bernwode benedict but after further investigation feel he may not be suitable and then came across these two.
1)caesar 171
2)littledale bright spark
All the others iv looked at have been coloured What are your opinions on these two stallions.Any pics of progeny would be good.I cant get the catherstone stud web-page to come up.

My only experience of littledale bright star was at the stallion expo earlier this year when he was very naughty, refusing to jump any fences and not listening to his little jockey. Not sure if that was normal behaviour for him or not but his movement and jump (what he showed of it) didn't seem extravagant either.

Don't know anything about Caesar 171.

Personally I prefer Caesar 171.

Have you looked on the SPSS page?

Also, what about going for another Welsh - Thistledown Copper Lustre is very nice too.

Both very nice foals holiday,i feel caesar would compliment my mare better not only in height and ability but as holiday pointed out to move the breeding on to produce a sports pony. For me that would put me off using littledale bright star as if a child is having difficulty riding him them what does that say about his temprement.

Caesar lives about a mile and a half from our place and friend is liveried at the stud.
Can vouch for his lovely temperament and he is a cracking mover. Used to see him regularly around local BD comps when Sam was still in ponies, always well mannered in warm ups and in the ring.

Thank you for considering caesar. Caesar is my Daughters pony stallion and for those that dont know a great deal about him I can put a few words down here... although I should warn you that I might drible on a bit... so apologies now! WARNING LONG POST AHEAD..

Caesar represented GB at the Pony Europeans and was awarded Bronze and Silver medals. He also graded highly in Germany with several 10's and has progeny in Germany who are graded sons and state premium mares. He has been breeding in the UK the last 4 years and there are two 4 year olds - a graded stallion and a super filly out of a Don Primero mare. She will attend the Young Pony dressage classes this October all being well. Both have taken to saddle very easily. His 3 year old son was awarded Best British Bred Pony Foal at the British Breeders Dinner where we collected our award. not bad for our first commercial UK foal! he will hopefully go forward for grading this year as a stallion.

Last year saw Sam, our Daughter, have her first foal crop on the ground under the Goldrics Stud prefix. She took two of her foals to the SPSS show in October last year. One was slighly bum high - awkward timing... the other won his foal class and was awarded a 10 for his trot! He then went on to collect the Supreme Champion title at only 9 weeks old! Lynee Crowden was the judge and she remarked at how Godrics Campeggio ( aka Basil) had shown remarkable uphill tendacies... see horse hero blog November where she has little one liner in about our Basil!

We have used Caesar on a range of mares from Trakehner, Danish Warmblood, Oldenburg, TB and the usual German Riding Ponies (which are from our Welsh lines of 1940's when the Germans came over and took the best of ours to create the remarkable ponies we see today). All of the foals we have are very strong movers and shakers, excellent temperaments and have all been the easiest to do.

Caesar has competed to PSG level and is an absolute gent... Sam qualifies for the Talent Spotting and in this competition you have to swop your ponies - something the judges would not have allowed if Caesar was of an unpredicatable temperament. Some of the mums at first were a little worried however I must admit their children were fighting over who would get to ride him... he is an absolute super star.

If you would like to see some piccies of his foals or indeed some video then let me know. Also I posted a link on here of some snap shots... they are not the best but you can see in general the difference between the various mares we used
