Firstly the accommodation you provide her is not free; your live-in groom is paid less than she would be if she were living-out. I don't understand your point about supplying all bedding lol. Anyway moving swiftly on, I've had live-in grooms and live-out grooms and I prefer live-out (self employed) grooms.

I think these can go wrong as the relationships tends to be scewed because of the proximity of the groom. Often one party takes the other for granted, so I think it is essential to remember you are the 'manager' and take your role seriously.

Therefore write a proper job spec of exactly what you want the groom to do. Sit down and discuss it with her and then review formally regularly - probably have a set time once a week. She then has clear perameters of what is expected and what she is looking to achieve.

Also, if you become friends thats great, but try and keep clarity between the job role and friend role!!

I've been one & would say to draw up a tenancy agreement for the accommodation same as you would if letting, with a signed contents list. We ended up with constant squabbles cos we didn't have one & both parties had different expectations. eg he wanted our garden tidy, we didn't have a lawn mower, he said get one, we said we're skint, sure you get the picture.
