There is alot of this around - have seen several posts on hho about liver enzymes up for really no reason.

Mine were picked up on my 3 monthly routine bloods so we were able to pick up raised levels and treated with noradine then a months course of HB formula even though pony only was quiet for one day. His levels did double to 180 but then thankfully has returned to normal. We did supportive care so what ever he had we supported the liver to get over it.

About the same time someone over at norfolk said their levels had tipped 500!

The liver is an amazing organ and can work with over 3/4 of it being poorly.

There are so many bugs and viruses going about it is not surprising horses are feeling under the weather

mine recetly had " a change in enzymes" in his liver vet said it was a temporay condition with mild damage.

that was in january and hes just got his condition back up to where it nearly should be. he was very lerthagic for about 2 weeks before he was diagonsed and not very happy.

my physio said they can have it for anges but it needs something to spark it off. you never know really.

the liver can regenerate it self. i was advised to feed milk thistle to help it. you can also get a detox thingy which apperantly is very good. havent tried it myself though.
he should be fine. good luckl

I had my horse's blood count done last december as she was really down and lethargic and it came back as her liver enzymes were 300 and they should've been 60, we had a biopsy done that came back clear, also function tests were ok. So we decided to monitier her bloods by fortnightly tests but the lowest we got them to were 200, in the mean time we were feeding her a b vitamin supplement and milk thistle. The vet wasn't happy and decided to do another liver biopsy and scan her, when doing this they found that her liver was smaller than average and not really in the 'normal' place it was slightly hidden. This isn't unknown but rare. I kept her on the B-sure supplement and Milk thistle and also put her on a feed balancer to make sure she was getting correct Vitamins etc... she has also been brought back into work and turned out more, was on restricted turnout as she also had an injury to her hock. The vet came out two weeks ago and the results had gone down to 100, so that is a huge improvement, i will have her tested again in 4 weeks and i'm hoping they will be more or less back to normal. I will definatley have routine blood test's from now on though as her liver may have been raised a long time but we didn't know.
Maybe you could try feeding a b vitamin supplement as a pick me up, you don't have to feed it all the time you can do a course as a pick-me-up.
