Having discovered that my ned has liver damage (possibly caused by ragwort before i owned him) I was wondering if anyone else has any experiences with this with their neds?

At the moment he is being treated with Milk Thistle and has to have more bloods done in 14 days. He is fine in himself and still eating like a pig, and people seem to think that livers can heal (obviously this depends on the extent of the damage which is not entirely known yet, without a biopsy) so I am feeling more calm about the whole situation. But I am keen to hear other people's stories - hopefully with a happy ending!

thanks

Yes My horse was Diagnosed with this 3 months ago an due to have another set of bloods soon.

The liver can regenerate if less than 75% is damaged. we belive my horses was caused by ragwork or worms prior to my ownership.

Ship is no longer lathargic and put all his weight back on, I have done BD and RC camp since and he is going really well Hope to start eventing next year now

Many years ago I had a pony die from liver failure/damage. Ragwort was suspected but we never found the cause. The fact that your horse is still eating well is really positive. My pony lost his appetite before he started to lose weight and become lethargic. The liver can regenerate and Im sure the medicines and tests available now are much better.
