Summer 2024 my old boy went very quiet and lethargic, bloods showed liver issues off the scale.
We did two tubs of hepalyte and he was back to normal, but again bloods were off the scale. Vet advice was that seeing as he was bright and well in himself, keep him on a liver supplement and crack on.
He was on global herbs restore for a long time then wouldn't touch it, so I moved him on to regular milk thistle.
Had the vet out yesterday who says we need more than that. Hepalyte is just so expensive so I'm looking at alternatives.
Vet suggested Mervue Laboratories Liver Pak (here) but there is nothing about ingredients etc online.
I know there is also Legaphyton, I've found the Cavalor Hepato Liquid and Feed mark Liver Aid (as well as a million others) online.

Any recommendations for something palatable and not bank breaking please? I'm not sure what I should be looking for when comparing ingredients to help decide.
 
I usually go for L94 from trinity consultants. Not had any issues with palatability so far with moderately fussy horses.
 
Another vote for L94 as a great starting point, one of mine's been a bit flat recently & bloods weren't great on liver, he's been on this for a few weeks now and is definitely getting his sassiness back ;)

I often give all mine a short course of this when the seasons are changing to help them out a bit, they've just had the autumn dose a bit earlier than I would usually do this year, because of the above. Never had any issues with palatability, & it gives them a boost with more than just liver. It's not 'cheap' but certainly not extortionate
 
Hepalyte is milk thistle, vit e and b vits so if that was working you could see if separates work out cheaper. Liver Pak ingredients here but similar https://www.glovet.com/our-products/mervue/liverpak/

I fed superconcentrated milk thistle from Equicure, as you feed less it was easier with a fussy horse and vitamin e from progressive earth or forage plus.

I also fed mycosorb as in my case it was possible mycotoxins though we couldn't identify anything
 
You may or may not have seen my post in the Club house about my horses liver issues. Have you worked out the cause? As that might influence the type of thing you feed?

In the past, I’ve used both L94 and the Equine American Liver Flush (not sure if that’s the exact name) - didn’t have palatability issues with either, whereas he really does not like the Global Herbs Restore or plain milk thistle.
