Liverpool sarcoid cream: how long to work?

Hi all,

I know there are a few posts re this topic, and I have read them all, but I have a specific question which I can't find the answer for - probably because there is no definative answer....however, how long, in your eperiences does the cream take to work?

I am going to ask my vet to apply this cream after unsuccessful removal of a nodular sarcoid on my boy's withers- V annoying as can't ride, he's never been lunged so much in his life!

I have until beginning of Feb with the insurance company for it to be classed as related to the first insident. He's been excluded for any skin tunours so after Feb, I will have to pay for all treatment (eek).

So, will they be resolved by Feb if I start the treatment this week??!!!

Hi, ive used liverpool cream on 2 different lots now (touch wood, all gone....) they started to react both times after the second treatment - ie sore to the touch. Thankfully he didnt get too bad, but you might need a bit of bute. First lot fell off within a month, second more like 6-8 weeks. No repeat treatments needed. Sarcoids are individual little critters though and react differently, but on my experience you should be OK for Feb. My vet did say at the time that if the sarcoid has been treated in a different manner prior to Liverpool, treatment may not be as successful - it would be interesting to know how yours reacts. SO annoying - had it removed, however when the et came to take the stitches out - part of it came undone - which scabbed over, but horse kept knocking scab off when rolling or playing despite my best efforts, then when weird and granulated with proud flesh, and now, a lot of the proud flesh has gone but left with two small (i assume sarcoidal) lumps where the old lump used to be :( I might be lucky - they might not be sarcoids at all, just weird healing, but i think, realistically they are.

I just dont know what i'm going to do if they don't go - i wouldnt normally be too worried if they were elsewhere, but the fact that they are on his withers means I can't ride, and i'm not sure (awful sounding as it is) that I can afford to keep an unridable horse - would be such a shame as he is young and perfect in every other way, were winning everything he entered before the stupid lump appeared!

Aghhhhh, god, sorry, complete rant..also having to keep all of this secret from OH as he didnt agree with me buying a second horse in the first place, god knows what he'd say if he knew I havent been able to ride him for 4 months!!! :(

I used Blood root cream first and it didnt get rid of the Sarcoid completely,so year later had liverpool and sarcoid gone,except for scab. Give it chance to work and have a chat with the vet. Hope it will be ok.
 
Just be aware that treating them with this can cause them to come back aggressively. My horse had 3 and they were treated with liverpool cream, his whole back leg area was raw, he had to be sedated for the 5 applications of cream and then on lots of bute and a year later hundreds of sarcoids popped up.
