Hi

I'm moving to Berkshire from Scotland in the New Year and need to find a fairly relaxed DIY livery yard for my horse. Can anyone recommend anywhere and what sort of prices am I likely to pay?

Doesn't need to be too posh - I just enjoy hacking around the countryside! - and want DIY as will be working part time so will do all the work myself!

We'll be moving to near Newbury so somewhere within 10-20 mins would be good...

Thanks!

There are plenty of yards in the area but all the good ones have a decent waitlist. It also depends which side of Newbury you will be on. Prices are totally dependant on facilities but range from £20-£50 pw

I'm at a nice yard 20 mins from Newbury. In padworth with nice hacking & ok facilities (an outdoor school, just had lights re-wired) some xc jumps & a field for schooling & SJ'ing. American barn style, small yard, maximum of 11 horses.

Fairly strict YO but personally i like that, no kids, no rubbish, yard kept tidy and no mud.

We have to buy their hay - it is a working farm, both arable & milking cows, so can be a bit smelly!!

PM if you want her number

Thanks everyone...

Looks like we will to the north of Newbury although we still haven't confirmed a rented house yet for us let alone a yard for the horse...:(

So I assume £20 a week is for a fairly basic yard with basic facilities? That would probably be fine for starters and I can't afford £50 a week anyway...!!

Thanks again and keep the suggestions coming!! ;)
