I currently keep pony at a small yard and I have only recently moved - Ive been there 2 months now.

The yard I moved from had great facilities with two big schools, small XC and SJ courses. There were lots of people there and apart from it being expensive I didnbt have any problems with it there.

Well now I have moved to a quiet small yard with only three of us there (one guy whose hardly ever there so two really) Im not very impressed with the surface of the school (its painfully deep inplaces and very hard going) and I don't know if I have made a massive mistake.

Does anyone have any thoughts or words of advice please?

I would go back to your old yard if its still possible to. I'm currently at a small DIY yard with a school that has the most terrible surface and I hardly ever use it and I'm looking at yards with better facilities to move to. Obviously better facilities come at a price but you will be able to do more with your horse and get more enjoyment from having a horse, so if you can afford it and theres a space, move back.

If the only reason you moved was that it was too expensive won't it still be too expensive? What's the school like when it's levelled?

It wasn't that it was too expensive for me, it was just more expensive than the one I am currently at.

I left the yard I was at because one of the outdoor schools surfaces was dangerous and I didn't like riding on it, but now I wonder if one school is better than none?

There are a few small local yards I could start looking around over the coming weeks. So I think I will, Im just not happy where I am at the moment

So you left ur old yard coz the surfact was dangerous? Did u not take a good look at the new yard's arena b4 moving there? That wud be the most important thing to me u see.... If you're not happy then u shud try to move, coz if u aint happy then ur horse aint gonna be happy.
