Most contracts insist on one months notice- does this have to be at the end of the month? Usually the last months livery then covers the last month but have you ever left mid month, then what happens as technically you’ll have paid a full month and still a deposit so you’ll be owed half back- but did it ever materialise!

At ours you can hand your notice in anytime but need to gives a month notice so if you hand it in 8 of august you pay up to 8 September. Your bill on the first of September is prorata for the eight days your spending here that month. Your deposit is refunded the day you leave, if you’ve met criteria for having it refunded.

What sort of reasons might you not get it refunded

On ours there are requirements to leave things in particular condition, ie diys and part liveries have clear their stables and poo pick their fields before leaving. Damage caused not yet accounted for. Leaving mid notice period without paying final bill. While We’ve kept parts of deposits I haven’t had not return one at all yet.

So do you want to leave at end of month, if so did you give notice at end of last month? On the question should you get your deposit back as long as you’ve full filled your contractual obligations yes.

Think of it exactly the same as renting a house. The notice period is totally separate from the deposit.

Notice is 1 month by day usually from the day you give notice (irrelevant of when you pay). Many people give notice at the start of a month so the notice period is also the length of the last payment, but it doesn't have to be - it could be any day of the month.

The deposit is for whatever it says in your contract - usually damage (can be requirement to jet wash - I had that in mine) so I moved into a spotless stable and had to leave it spotless (less room for ambiguity over how clean it was). But also the deposit can be used if someone doesn't pay their full notice period. Many people seem confused about what a months notice really means !

We have some on 4 weekly contracts and some calendar, here a months notice is from the day you gave notice.
