Hi all.
My best friend is a livery at my house. I have incredible hacking, a track system, all weather turnout and she has a 14x14 stable, a 20x30 ménage with a new surface. I don’t have a lot of grass, so we do have to substitute with hay.
Through summer, we’ve charged £200 per month and she pays 1/3 towards hay. Through winter, the agreed prices were to go up to £300 to account for extra winter effort- moving to a stable.
For £300, she’s getting every morning sorted (feed/rugs/turnout)one day full livery per week and ad lib jobs, ie I’ll feed for her if she’s running late. She still needs to pay for hay and bedding.
We live in Derbyshire. Do you think £300 is reasonable? Livery prices seem to vary so much around here.
We don’t want to make any money from her, but we do want her to cover the costs of an extra horse and us feel our time is being fairly compensated. I think she feels it’s a bit expensive for a friends house, but it’s a lot of extra effort for my partner and I.
Thank you.
