Just wondered if anyone could recommend a yard in the Durham area that is reasonably priced but with at least an outdoor arena (indoor even better but that might just be wishful thinking!!) turn out and semi-decent hacking.
It would need to offer full livery service but I could do DIY at weekends if they were flexible.
And it would be for 2 horses to move there together.
I'm currently thinking of semi retiring my current horse and my current yard has no spaces for the second I'm thinking of getting. I don't want them on seperate yards as time is such a factor after work. Ideally I need to find something reasonably priced before taking the plunge of 2 horses or find a sharer for the old girl.... who is still successfully competing affil elementary dressage, hacking and sound..... but will just no longer SJ affiliated.
Just got a lot of thinking to do and wondering what options I have and what is out there!
Thanks NE peeps!

Hi, not living in NE any more but used to.
Is there any area in Durham you are looking at?
No idea if they got spaces but:
Holmeside ParkArena
Edenwell EC
Bowes Manor
Penshaw EC

Thats all I can think of for now that are full livery, sure someone will be able to help a bit more. I usually go for DIY, so know more of that type of yard.

Hope it helps

Really looking ideally to the south/east of the city itself but anywhere on the perimeter of Durham would be ok. Am looking at potential new horsie on Thursday eek! And if it all goes ahead will need to start searching for a stable from thereon. Can keep her with my instructor temporarily but as she has so many stallions it will only be a temporary arrangement....
Might not be the right horse for me so is still all very up in the air at the moment!
Trouble is with Lambton closing I think there are a lot of people looking for livery at the minute and places somewhere decent may be limited! Anyone know what Baxter Wood is like?

Ours is as flexible as you like at whittonstall but we are North of Durham :) Good luck as like you say there are a lot of people looking with Lambton closing

Have just had a look at the website for Whittonstall! Sounds exactly the sort of thing I'd be looking for but just too far north for me unfortunately!!

You can always move too :D *joking*

Not sure what they offer but what about Seagold Centurion towards the south, lovely people and great facilities when I've visited :)

They are lovely people :-) but not sure they do livery there actually. And a smidge too far south..... I'm sounding ever so fussy.... its just with working full time..... and suddenly 2 horses to do after work.... time is going to become a major factor so the the less travelling the better :-/ In fact the time and money of two is very scary indeed!!!!

I'm not sure what livery Ivesely do or are they not far south enough? Also not sure what they are like atm but have plenty of facilities just looking a bit tired...

Yes a friend mentioned them too..... its worth an inquiry I think although there always seems to be this question mark of them selling up for the last few years.....

It's been for sale for years! I know of someone on there as I bought a horse from her so they are defo accepting new people if they have space as far as I know :)

Ivesley still do DIY, it's been for sale for years. Realistically who is going to buy it now??

I have heard good things about Baxter Wood but I have never been there myself.

Plawsworth estate contains afew little yards.

Union Hall, Holmside Hall.

Vacancies will be tight because yards are shutting down :(

If Ivesley only do DIY then thats off the list again as with my crazy work hours I can't always garuntee getting there at a sensible time. Union Hall is on my list too already and I suppose Holmside Hall is an option too although it the "wrong" side of Durham if I'm picky.... plus I think their winter curfew might be a bit tight for yet again my crazy work hours :-/
I wondered if there were any small, even private yards that might take on the odd livery???
