Due to an 'interesting' situation arising with my loaner, I want my horse back. I really want to take her down to edinburgh with me, it's a ridiculous idea while I'm in my final year of uni, but I don't care.

All I really need is grass livery and decent off road hacking. I'd like to get an idea of the costs in the Edinburgh area before I rush into taking my horse back. Over the East side would be easiest for me, as I'm at Queen Margarets in Musselburgh and don't want to spend too much time travelling.

I can't really help with the east side of Edinburgh, but you could try looking at the notice board in the drum feed store. There might be a few numbers there.

No idea what these places are like as never boarded there, however there used to be Drummohr Stables in Musselburgh. There are a number in Longniddry and Gullane (might be a bit too far though). There are a few small livery yards in Musselburgh and isn't there one at Carberry? You'd have to ask around locally though as these places may not be there any more. There used to be a lovely one in Musselburgh, on the Wallyford side of the river, just up from Lorettos - beautiful little yard, sort of hidden away and with fantastic riding.

There's also a couple in Dalkeith which isn't a million miles away from you in Musselburgh.

Haddington has some yards and I think there used to be one just outside Pencaitland.

Your best bet would be to go to the local tack shops and look at the ads, or maybe even put an ad up? You might find a smaller private place who has space for your horse.

You could also look at Scottish Equestrian magazine and EquiAds, which always have livery ads. The Edinburgh Equestrian Centre (in Dalkeith) has a website which I think gives you current tariffs. And I believe there's also a yard at Elphinstone near Tranent, not far from you.
