Hi all

I will shortly be moving to the Wirral and I am looking for DIY livery or a small private yard to rent or even just grazing, if there is some storage available for hay, a few rugs, etc. I know all of the best/nicest yards don’t advertise, so local knowledge is a must to find the right place. Hence I need help from people already keeping horses on the Wirral.

It must have/be:
  • 24/7 turnout all year (I don’t mind paying for a stable even if I won’t be using it)
  • Individual turnout (so I can control grazing for my good doers – I do graze my boys together)
  • No problems with me using electric fencing to control grazing
  • A smallish yard (preferably less than 10 owners – doesn’t matter how many horses)
  • Water on site
It would be a bonus if it had:
  • A field shelter / stable that opens on to the field
  • Ménage / lunge pen (surface not to deep so miniature Shetlands could use it)
  • Knowledgeable YO/manager who, for extra payment, would be able to care for ponies whilst I was on holiday, etc and would follow my instructions exactly (I have a EMS pony (diabetic) and a sweet itch pony)
If you know of somewhere that would suit, but is currently full, I would still appreciate their details as if I can’t find the right yard I will leave the ponies where they are, with my mother looking after them, and then move them to the Wirral when a space comes up somewhere good.

Many thanks and sorry for the long post.

Dont mind which area of the wirral too much.

I am looking at living Heswall sort of area as it'll be nice and close to my partners job. But to be honest if I found the perfect place for the horses before I move (early Dec) i'd make sure we lived near to the yard. I think its always harder to find the right place for the ponies, than me and my partner. :D

I did find the wirral horse directory but was slightly apprehensive of it as in Telford any yard that advertises itself, anywhere, tends to have problems and be a very bad place to keep horses. Would you say there were good yards on there? Any to avoid?

Can you PM me please too.. I am moving to Neston with my horse in next few months and looking for part livery or grass livery.
Cheers
Cajsa
