Livery, help!

What would you class as part livery?

Is seeing them twice daily, un/rugging, winter feeding, hard feeds if needed and occasional groom okay for part or would you expect vet/farrier booking and/or being there included?

I've always done DIY as DIY, but at mine we do all of the above for it currently. Trying to decide what to include as part and what to leave for full livery.

We don't exercise as part of livery but have people who do at extra cost who are regularly on site. So the option is there separately.

And 24/7 turnout.

What do you have/would you think appropriate?

Generally speaking, part should be everything bar riding. Re the vet and farrier, yes I would think it should be included unless the horse, or what is being done, is awkward. If the horse only needs holding for the vet for a few moments, or can be tied up for the farrier while you get on with other jobs on the yard then its fair enough to include it. Re treating injuries etc, I think small jobs should be included, but longer jobs (such as 20mins hosing twice a day) should be paid extra for..

Forgot to say, basically as long as what is included is set out in the contract then its up to the livery owner..
 
That's what I was under the impression of, however lots of google research in the last few months has shown that most places do a lot less.

Contracts are fine but currently it's DIY and individual items added on, so want another 'convenience' option of not having to pay per item.

When I've done PL at my yard, they had:
Labour: Fed 2 times per day, turn out, bring in, rug changing to suit & mucking out/poo-pick field. Pick out feet daily.
Goods: Included was hay ad lib (in & out in field) and straw bedding. Wormer/ worm count.

Charged extras were:
Vet & Farrier visit (if having to bring in & supervise the whole time, otherwise included if horse/pony ok to be tied)
Grooming
Other bedding if not straw

Escalated to full livery if needed for:
Daily groom, tack cleaned, lunging or ridden exercise.

I dont do any of that now, just mine - and 1 temporary companion.

Mine is on 'Full Livery' in Yorkshire which includes:

Labour: Fed 2 times per day, turn out, bring in, rug changing to suit & mucking out/poo-pick field.

Charged extras are:
Vet & Farrier visit
Grooming
Other bedding if not straw
lunging or ridden exercise.
 
Our full is:feed bkfast,change rug,turnout,muck out,bring in,pick feet,change rug,feed dinner,put net in.
All nets&feeds made up by staff,to horses' individual requirements. Staff poopick fields.
Farrier booked by staff&horses brought in by staff for farrier. Same for routine vet apptmt. Owners expected to attend if possible for physio,dentist &multiple vet visits for complex issue(all owners seem to want to be there for these anyway).
All feed&forage&bedding included(there is an 'allowance amount' for these-any in excess is charged at cost price.
Wormers&supplements are charged extra,at cost price. Grooming,exercise&tack cleaning are not included but can be negotiated separately with staff,at extra cost.
Part : all of the above except mucking out. (This is a quite a full 'part'!)
 
Forgot,any of the 'parts' can pay extra for any days 'full' (ie mucking out) that they need. It's all configured like this to avoid any faffing around with keeping track of who needs to pay 1.50 for a rug change/turnout on thursday and 50p for a feed putting in on Saturday etc etc...too much hassle! Seems to suit everyone there :)
 
My full livery is all feed, bedding, booking and holding for farrier/vet, turning in and out, grooming, tack cleaning and exercise. Basically everything! Includes clipping and mane pulling etc too.
 
Part and full livery seems to vary such a lot.

My horse is on full livery and at last yard included following 7 days per week:

2 hard feeds per day
2 large haylage nets per day
Muck out
Skip outs during day if in
Change rugs
Turn out
Bring in
Pick feet out
Groom
2 bales of bedding per week (shavings or straw)
Use of horse walker if required
Basically general day to day care of horse
Exercising was extra

Part livery was as above excluding muck out and grooming.

At current yard full livery is following 7 days a week:

Mucking out - I supply bedding
Turn out
Bring in
Change rugs
Groom
Make up feeds and put in - I buy feed
3 haylage nets per day if in
Exercise is extra

Both yards very different and very good :)
