Apologies if this has been posted already!

I will be moving to Aberdeen in a couple of months and looking for recommendations on livery yards. I will be living in the City Centre so looking for something realtively close but I don't mind going a bit further for the right place.

I will be looking for Full Livery, somewhere with a school (doesn't have to be indoor) and hacking. I won't have transport when I move up so ideally looking for somewhere that either holds events or within hacking distance (not sure if this is possible?!) Can anyone recommend anywhere and a rough idea on prices?

Also if anyone can suggest any good websites/recruitment agencies for work aswell!

Thank you

What discipline are you looking for?

Unfortunately, a yard that would have been perfect for what you describe (full livery, indoor/outdoor, competition venue, excellent hacking) is closing at the end of this month and moving to an area where I think they won't have much hacking (Loanhead, moving to Belhelvie I think). I have no idea what Cabin's hacking is like, but they have lots of comps and the facilities look great. Fountain Equestrian, though close to the old railway line (for hacking), doesn't have direct access, but is a short drive from Kirkhill. They have a large indoor and 3 outdoors and plenty of competitions. I think they may not have any livery spaces open, however. Ladyleys might be a good bet for you. Two indoors, one (or two?) outdoor, and I think some hacking and plenty of comps.

There's a FB Group "horsey stuff in aberdeenshire" where you could ask about livery places; they'd probably know more than me!

There's Tillyoch Equestrian too - indoor, outdoor, holds BD and BS comps as well as unaff, and hacking's not too bad - just over the road from the old railway, and can hack up to Blacktop from there too :) It's also closer to the City centre than Ladyleys and the Cabin.

There's also places like Hogholm, which has an indoor and outdoor, really nice place with nice hacking, not a comp centre but I know there's loads of people who compete and are very good at sharing lifts etc.

I have friends at Hogholm and really rate it - top notch service, happy horses and lovely staff. If I were going full livery I admit that's where I'd be going, personally.

There are other full liveries south of the city too, places like Halmyres etc, but the competing would be much trickier from there...

There are other yards that only technically offer DIY, but where you can pay for part services like turnout and morning feed say, which can make life easier if you like. Would open up more options for places to hack to venues from.
