Wondering if anyone had any recommendations for livery yards in this area.

Assisted/full livery preferably with a menage and lights.

Thanks very much!

Hi,

My horses are at Shipley Lane 4 miles north west of Alnwick on the road to Eglingham. I cannot speak highly enough of them especially as I moved there after a less than adaquate experience elsewhere. There is an indoor and outdoor school(floodlit). The staff are supportive and helpful. It is a riding school as well as livery (both BHS registered).

They do both part and full livery although not full DIY at the moment though the manager is having a rethink about this. The standard of horse care is high and has been very consistent over the six years I have known the yard. They have high standards and these are enforced!

My horse has complex health needs and requires a strict dietary solution to them - the yard manager takes personal responsibility for this and has worked hard to get his complex regime right - I think she likes a challenge!

All liverys get a free lesson each week (group lesson) and 20% discount on individual lessons. You can also opt for an "intructive hack" instead - most of us use this if company is a bit thin on the ground and we want to take a horse out with a companion for some reason. There are also one or two nervous folk who like to go out accompanied. The group of liverys is almost exclusively adult and very friendly. Few people compete and there is a good atmosphere.

It is on a busy road which you can get off onto quieter roads and bridleways quickly and there is anoption to go out the back of the yard straight onto a minor quiet road in one direction. The hacking however is very good whether you do distance or shorter rides.

Hope this helps!

Hi Winstons mum,

Thanks for all that fantastic help! I've just moved up here to RAF Boulmer from Suffolk so have no idea about anything up here

I have a mate who used to keep hers at Shipley and she seemed pretty happy there. There is a place at Shilbottle but I can't remember the name - but it has indoor and outdoor schools and various livery options, a friend had her daughter's pony there for a while on working livery and again they were happy with it. Townfoot I think??!

Just met a bloke who's at Boulmer, though not sure how it will go - not sure about these RAF guys and their intentions!
