Hi,

I've just accepted a job in Carmarthen which means a 200 mile relocation for me!! Being completely new to the area would love to hear from people local to Carmarthen. Also more importantly I need to find a livery yard for my boy. Ideally DIY or assisted DIY close to Carmarthen itself. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I'm in Pembrokeshire, which is about 20 mins away from Carmarthen.

I have a yard, but I'm too far away for you I think. But I will keep my ears open for you.

It depends really. I've got used to having him on DIY within 4 miles of my home. However his home is paramount so 20 minutes isn't too bad but not much further especially if it offered occassional assisted DIY (If i couldn't make it to bring in in the evening etc)

There's Hafod Farm near Whitland/St Clears (takes my other half 20-22 minutes to get to Carmarthen from Whitland). They have a website - not able to post a link as i don't know how but if you 'google it' you'll find it.
I keep my horse there and it's lovely.

I can't advise personally as I'm in Llanelli which is about 15 miles away, but there's 2 tack shops in Carmarthen, Countrywide and Carmarthen Farmers, and they've always got loads of livery posters on their noticeboards. If you're coming down to have a look around then you can call in and see what's up on the boards.

I know there's one in Idole which sounds lovely, and that's about 5/10 mins out of Carmarthen, but I can't remember the details. Google might find it.

Towy Valley Riding Club do loads of events in the area, including weekly lessons in the indoor school at Carmarthen College. Their website is http://www.towyvalleyrc.co.uk/

You might also want to take a look at the Carmarthenshire Riders forum http://carmsriders.ipbfree.com/ as it's very friendly, and we have quite a few members in Carmarthen. You can put a post in the shoutbox asking about livery too

ooh you are lucky to have got a job down here..iv been trying for ages..exactly where will you be based ..we live in narberth i know a few yards..what facilities do you require

Does the Welsh Equitation Centre in between Carmarthen and Llansteffan offer livery anybody know? I haven't been there for years (used to holiday in Llansteffan every year!) so don't know if it's still even open!

in Johnstown industrial estate but will live in Carmarthen itself. I found details for the one in Idole after ringing countrywide farmers but they have no space at the moment doh! Found a couple to look at. Asking a fair bit really, need all year turnout (day time only in winter) a school, bit of hacking off road ideally and DIY but full livery available if required (if I want to go home and visit family would be really helpful). I'll look into that equitation centre thanks!

Hi I have only just seen this and notice that you own Rosecombe Symphony's Orlando, we bought him when he was 10 months old and sold him at two & half years old, he is a lovely boy, if you want any photos of him as a youngster let me know. I live 12 miles from Carmarthen, its strange how he has come back to the area.

Hi congrates on the new job,,, where about's are you going to live in carmarthenshire as theres Lucy's livery which is really good, some good yards in cross-hands. Greenvale stud not sure where it is? Llaugharne has Hills Farm they take liverys and have lots of facilities ,also the welsh equation center still takes liverys as far as I know and then there's Lan Fach in Llansteffan it's self but is just grass and stable livery. Hope this helps good luck with the move.
