Hi all,

Just wondering what livery facilities are like around tavistock, I'm looking for DIY for a 15hh cob mare (in at night in winter, out all summer), preferably with good riding and a sandschool of some kind. Doesn't need to be a big fancy yard, just a nice little friendly one for a happy hacker. Could anyone give me an idea of weekly cost and how available places might be?

Your best bet is to go into Countrywest Farmers in Tavistock they always have adverts for livery on the board.

I don't know of any as I am not in that area but did notice a few advertising when I last popped in there.

I have a yard up near okehampton - so not to far away. Prices very in the area - from about £20 a week DIY with few facilities to £30 a week with good facilities. There are some pretty bad yards around but also some great ones. Make sure you know what you want and be very careful to make sure that turnout is available all year round - lots of places in Devon have clay soil and lots of springs which means the ground becomes very wet and turnout is restricted. We are lucky as we haven't got clay so turned out every day but lots of places dont. Agree CountryWest trading is probably the best place to try or Mole Avon in Okehampton

i know of a yard with vacancies in the yelverton area, working farm, with good turnout, and lovely new stables. PM me if your intested

country west trading is probs the best place to look, or tom willcocks which is plymouth, more than tavvy.
