Hi,

Can anyone suggest any livery yards to the west and north of Aberdeen? I'll be moving to the area and I am looking for livery for my horse. He'll happily live out but I would prefer to also have a stable available for the option of keeping him in, so looking for grass and box livery.

Not too fussy about facilities as long as there is a school to ride in and the turnout is safe and secure!

Hopefully someone can suggest some yards. I've seen a few threads on here but was looking for some 'current' information!

Thanks :)

Hi,

Well my work will be near Westhill but I could end up staying King Street direction in Aberdeen.

Currently on pure DIY but we help each other out if necessary and would love to find something similar. However the option of part livery might be handy and something I would consider!

I would be willing to travel for the right yard but obviously within reason. Don't want to be too far from my horse :)

Ah ok well you have Denburn at Kingswells, you'll pass it on way to work. East Kingsford again Kingswells, Easter Mains at Westhill, Mains of Tertowie which is out the back of Westhill towards Dyce so probably in wrong direction. Then there is Loanhead at Countesswells and a few places around there it's slightly off your route but not far. There are quite a lot if small yards in that area that don't advertise so I would be inclined to drive by and stop and enquire. Denburn, Easter Mains and Loanhead all have indoor schools and Loanhead run shows and have good hacking so depends what you want but I would certainly look at some if the smaller private yards. Might be an idea to post something on gumtree specifically looking at the Kingswells/Westhill area. I'll try and get names/numbers of some of the private places for you. If you are in Aberdeen any time soon I would definitely do a drive round and just stop wherever you see horses as there's so much private livery. Phone numbers for the places I mentioned are on-line. It's been a long time since I kept horses in livery so wouldn't recommend a specific yard but I'm sure you'll get a feel by visiting a few.

Great, thanks for the suggestions! I'll be up to visit soon so will hopefully be able to drive around and pop in to a few places. A smaller yard would be ideal.
Thanks.

For a smaller yard, try Hillhead on Craigton Road just off Countesswells Road (has outdoor school), or Sunnyside is slightly bigger (has outdoor school and small indoor). There's quite a few more along there, close to Loanhead and Hayfield, as Skipadeedooda has said! Hacking in that area is amazing. There's also Thornhill, but they really don't advertise, and no idea how to get in contact. If you do end up in that area and are able to ride daytime, then a Hayfield membership can be useful, as it lets you use their schools when they're free.

Spookypony would you be able to PM me with a contact number for Hillhead, or any other small yards you might know around that area. Looking for grass/DIY livery for two ponies. Thanks
