Livery near Fleet . . .with a twist.

Asking on behalf of someone with very particular livery needs . . .

Two horses.

One, a pony with a tendency to laminitis, needs restricted grazing at the very least, if not a dry paddock. Another bonus would be kids around as his owners are still very young and ideally he could do with more work. Super cool pony, shown, done PC, very attractive and well schooled.

The other, easy to keep performance horse gelding. Owner particularly wants good hacking but would also like to compete so a decent school, somewhere to jump etc. is pretty much essential.

Assisted DIY (straight DIY not an option, really) and relatively accessible to Fleet although it doesn't matter where, exactly.

Any thoughts? She is going to comb the saddler's notice boards, obviously, but anywhere else worth looking or people worth asking?
 
yeah your right, maybe i should just go on what my guts telling me. thanks, guess i should look into there more then. Moving house is such a nuisance, especially when you have to move your beloved animals too!

A fellow livery told me a farmer owns a load of land near the winchfield train station all the way back to the motorway. Know of anyone who has a field to rent for 4 ponies?:D All i want is a field and storage/stable!

Have just realised where you mean, you could pop in to the place next to Greenacres called Oakfield I think, Jamie & Laura in there are lovely, its owned by Lauras mum & they might know who owns those fields? Just a thought. If any spaces come up where I am will PM you, it has 24hr turnout & you can have a stable or not, but they are jam packed at the moment.

YES PLEASE:D my friend and I are struggling to find anywhere with 24/7 turnout (my arthritic cob MUST stay out and moving!) we are currently just down in Dogmersfield but are very keen/desperate to move due to numerous issues on our yard ie NO fencing and Winchfield is still within a nice driving reach (I'm on Zebon, friend is on edge of Elvetham). I've got 2 old men and friend has a 4 year old mare and we picked up her filly yearling last week:o. Apparently a lot of the land is owned by a farmer called Tony, but will just have to go knocking on his door if I work out which house it is near the Barley Mow!
 
Not sure tony has room for four at the moment. Hes the person I rent from .. he may know someone else tho. His house has a red pickup truck outside it.

cheers...i may try and hunt him down this weekend. Apparently him and the farmer whose yard I'm currently at despise each other...farmers:rolleyes: Need to look in Shapley's as well and been given a number for a woman over in Crondall, Carol, who may do 24/7 turnout diy...connecting myself to horsey people on my doorstep gradually!
 
I know someone who has been at that yard for some time and she can't speak highly enough of the Yard Manager and thinks it is a wonderful yard. I trust her judgement and I will be moving there at the end of the month. It seems to me like a very professionally run yard with fair and sensible rules and excellent facilities. Personally, I would never slag a yard or YM off publicly no matter how disgruntled I was when I left, and the comments I have read on this thread strike me as coming more from the premise of a personal vendetta rather than constructive feedback.

I am so glad I found this thread!

I am looking for grazing and a stable at the moment.
No major rush, but my horse has just retired herself due to a major leg injury, so am looking to 'downsize' as I don't need the facilities that my yard has anymore, so would like just a nice flat field and stable for my lovely girl to spend her life munching :)

Anyone know of anywhere?

At the moment, she would have to have individual turnout, but will be building her turnout up so she can go out full time and would be able to share in the long run.

Will be driving around tomorrow doing some enquiries, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

Winchfield would be ideal, do you have a contact number?

Crondall, Ewshot, Farnham... etc would also be ideal.
 
I am at Pilcot farm and had very specifc needs for a mare that I sadly had to have put down last year. The yard manager bent over backwards to help me and I am very happy there with my other horse. As with all yards, different personalities suit different places and it's sad that a forum such as this needs to be used for personal vendettas.

I would recommend Pilcot, also try Hurst Farm in Winchfield. The grass was too rich for my mare but the facilites were very good.
 
I keep my mare and shetland at a ladies home in crondall as stables and grazing but no school let me know of this is of interest to you
 
How funny I should stumble upon this thread, by chance a friend and I viewed Pilcot Farm today. Totally unnanounced, we were driving by and my friend recaled there being a yard there years ago.

What can I say? We would move there tomorrow if there was enough space! (we need room for 3 - Which is proving a struggle!) We are seriously trying to work out how we could possibly have two horses at Pilcot and possibly house another near by.

The yard manager was incredibly friendly and professional, given that also we had just turned up and puled her from her house, she appeared to have visitors.
Obviously a very knowledgble expeienced lady, without being overpowering. We both had a reall relly good vibe from her, the yard had fabuous character and was very well kept and presented.

We are so disappointed to not be abe to take all three there, it would suit us perfectly and we felt certain our horses would be in great hands.

We viewed Carols (if the same) yard ast week, it has the potential once building is finished to be quite nice but the restriction of turn out and no arena put us off.

If anyone could suggest anywhere for three bigguns we would be hugely greatful!!

Was that the new livery yard opening in Crondall? Her daughter gave me her phone number when i put a wanted ad out for diy livery 24/7 turnout but will obviously avoid it if there isn't much turnout! The feed man also said hacking would be somewhat limited with its location.
 
Yes, thats the same Carol.

THe turn out appeared pretty limited. Lots of stables sized paddoacks fenced off around the edge of the field - Certainly wouldn't suit my needs.
