Help! I am currently at a very small stables (only 4) in Aviemore with no lighting, no water, an unusable school and a stable that has no proper flooring and on a slant. The tack room has no lock and the local thief is on the prowl so everything needs to be locked up. The yard owner is charging me £140 per month for this and i have to provide my own bedding and hay also.
I have only been here three weeks and only moved there to get out of an equally bad yard with no lighting and a muck heap that you had to climb a 45 degree angle up a plank of wood to tip muck. Again in the pitch black with no lighting.
I need to move by Wednesday as the yard owner is ripping me off. I found out that one of the other liveries is only being charged £100 a month because she complained about the lack of facilities here. When confronted the yard owner said I still had to pay the full amount or get out.
As you can imagine.... I am now trying to find somewhere else to go but there are no yards around here at all.
Unfortunately my 22yr old gelding came down with laminitis last year so now needs to have stabling to keep the weight off in the Summer.
Does anyone know of any stables within 30 mins of Aviemore? I was going to try Newtonmore but have heard they are moving.
I know from looking at previous posts that stabling is scarce in this area but I am desperate now!!
I would appreciate any help or ideas.....

Can't help with suggestions as the only one I know anywhere near is Burgie and that is obviously way too far!

However try putting a post in the Scottish regional forum, you might get a few more suggestions, good luck :)

There is nothing that way that I am aware of. Best you have is checking in the inverness area. Chapelton at muir of Ord is pretty good and may have stables. Seaforth at dingwall is a possibility. I think dark deer at cannich will be too far and they are pretty full I think now don't think they have any stables left. They all mean driving though unless you do full livery and it will be more than you are paying but the facilities are way better at all 3.

Might be worth trying the barefoot group on facebook - perhaps someone with a track. (more effective against laminitis than stabling).

I dont get why youre feeling so ripped off OP, surely you saw the facilities (or lack of) prior to agreeing the rate? YO's can charge what they want especially if there arent many others nearby.

Hope you find something very quickly, maybe worth trying Facebook groups?

Yes I saw facilities but had nowhere else to go at the time. The yard owner is charging someone else on the yard £40 less than me for The same facilities.I am basically being ripped off as I buy in my own hay and bedding so am just paying for a crap stable and muddy field with no water or electricity.
