I have recently moved up to Blandford Forum for work and I am really keen to find somewhere to keep my 16hh 6yo mare on DIY livery. She will need stabling and turnout all winter, I don't need any other facilities, but some sort of storage for hay and straw would be useful as I'd like to use my own if possible. I want to get her up here as soon as possible as well, I miss her loads and I can't expect my parents to look after her indefinitely.
Once I get her up here I'd love to meet any horsey people in the area to show me the best rides and where's good to go etc :-)

sparrow bush!!! very good reviews!!! in in winthrith at a great yard. our hacking is amazing, nothing better than getting up in the morning and riding over durdle door and weymouth!!

let me know when your horse is here!!!!!

Thanks guys, looking round sparrowbush on Tues and lower bryanston farm on thurs. Can't wait to have my horse up with me and start exploring the miles of bridleways there seem to be in the area :-)

Welcome to Blandford!

Sparrowbush is a lovely yard. You can also try Pound Cottage riding stables, they sometimes take on liveries

There's a local free mag called the Blackmore Vale magazine. They have a 'horses' section that sometimes has ads for livery in. Theres always ads for hay, etc in there.

Have checked out the Blackmore Vale magazine, nothing in my immediate area and I really want to have Lily as close as possible, I'll be back and forth from the yard a lot and it's just a pain when it's any distance. (I've been spoilt having them just up the road my entire life).

Higher Houghton is a bit further than I'd like ideally and Pound Cottage as well, but will check them out if the places I'm looking round aren't suitable.

Thanks again for the suggestions, It's nice to hear opinions from people in the area who actually know the yards, it's difficult to form a good opinion from a website and a visit. Can't believe some of the facilities available, I've only ever had stable, field for turn out and road hacking although the farm belongs to my parents so it is just us on there. Think we might rather like Dorset :-D
