Could any one in the south west (especialy in Devon) please help me with some pricings for livery.

How much Livery do you pay for DIY?
What facilities do you have?
Extras ie turnout/bring in etc prices
Also hay and straw - is this included - if not how much is a bale?

Thank you !

I pay £15 per week for field and stable, no school but excellent moorland hacking - inclusive of hay in the winter and also if we make breakfasts up YO feeds them all in mornings for us.
Any extras we need doing have to be arranged between us liveries as it is only DIY

i'm in cornwall. i paid £20 a week for stable and grazing. any extre i.e bring in/ out we do it between each other. hay is £3 a bale this year, straw £2.50, happy jack £6. haylage small bales £4.50. big bale is £25 divide between how many use it i.e if it's 5 of us it's £5 a bale. we have a paddock for schooling so no sand school.

I'm in Devon.

We charge £20 per week for DIY (stable and grazing), additional costs for hay and straw. Limited T/O in winter but 24/7 in summer. Indoor and outdoor school plus we are a competition venue so lots of shows on site.

Haylage is £11.50 per week. Straw is £10 per week. This is for good quality stuff and as much as you want. Assisted DIY is basically 50p per task although mucking out is obviously more expensive.

Locally, we are very competative, our prices are low because we don't have proper T/O in winter. Other places with winter T/O tend to charge a little more per week - up to £35. If you don't want a school then you can get DIY for less though.

Thanks everyone so far - you're giving a me a great idea of prices...
We have internal stabling with big stables, a 60m x 20m school being put in this month, and include hay and straw in the price, and 24/7 year round turn out.

Currently we charge £23 inc VAT a week with no arena but the hay and straw is included.

When arena is complete we will be putting prices up as obviously will have better facilities and need to cover the enormous cost of the arena somehow! So just trying to work out a fair cost really. We are lucky to be just 3 miles from the city centre so great catchment area and have had no problems filling stables so far with a lot of people on a waiting list for once the arena is completed.

Thanks everyone - anyone else?

I am in Exeter and now have my horses at home but when they were at livery I paid £21 p/w for diy, this included haylage.

If I had to go back to livery i would be prepared to pay upto £30 for DIY if that included haylage and good facilities and the option for extra help with turnout/bring in etc.

Oh and that's OK sandschool, feedroom with large individual space, tack room with large space for own stuff, good stables in an American Barn, own paddocks with good drainage down to a stream, good lane rides leading to off-road rides and something you can't buy - really genuinely friendly and supportive stable friends!

Unlimited turnout and owner will do jobs for you free if you ask him (farmer). We are all friends more than anything else. He gets extra large haylage bales but I would never feed it so don't buy it, but the people who do take it in turns to buy the bale at £10 every 6 weeks or so. We make some of our own hay on our own field and also buy good hay at £1 a bale off the field.

I haven't been in livery for a couple of years now, so my prices are irrelevant to you, but I was at a place (just off the A380 near Ugbrooke) which had put in a fab sand school with lights. They charged for the use of it, I think it was £4 per hour five years ago, and you had to pre-book it in a diary - that way, the owner could check you weren't stitching them up. I thought it was a fair way to do it, not everyone wants to use a school, and you may already have liveries who were happy enough without one.

BTW, are there any up to date pics of Inde-cent available yet!?

And what are the chances of your cute little buckskin colt looking like the horse in my siggy when he's a grown up!?

i have 4 horses on diy near bodmin cornwall heres the list lol

diy £ 18 per week
grass livery for broodmare £10
hay £2 per bale
straw £ 2 per bale
haylege £ 6 per week ( 1 generous filled net per day )
use of xc course £ 5 per session ( discounted from £10 for liveries )
muck out £3
turnout , bring in , feed , catch for farrier etc , £ 1 per time
storage of trailer included in price at mo but that may change in future

facilties are :

fairly basic outdoor stables
good sized sandschool with variable maintanance
jumping paddock in summer
good off road hacking
small storage area for feed etc
good grazing in single sex herds with excellent rotation
strict worming and poo picking regime
24/7 turnout may to oct daily turnout in daylight hours in winter
all year 24/7 turnout for unshod horses if needed

i would pay more for ....
less mud ( this cant be helped its a working farm )
internal stables
horsewalker
rug drying area
individual rat free locked storage
post and rail fencing
better grass management so theres less buttercups etc (farm i,m at is organic so loads of weeds )

i think your current prices including hay and straw are very low , no wonder you have a waiting list , i think for diy , hay and straw included plus sandschool and i presume tack room , storage etc i would expect to pay ...

£20/ 25 in summer (no straw / hay )
£30/35 in winter (to include hay and straw )

p.s do you offer full livery for foaling? , my mare due may next year and i,m worrying that i won,t have enough experience
pm me with prices etc if you do

I am just outside Exeter and pay £65 per month for Amercian barn stabling and 24/7 turnout.
No help and can;t buy hay or strraw on site, but it's fab hacking and lovely people.

i pay £26 per week for basic stable, grazing including am feed and rug and turnout. no school or facilities but fab riding and excellent small yard with LOVELY people.( only two liveries-it's great!!!!)
haylage -£39 every 4 weeks--as much as i want. straw if used £18 every 4 weeks, but i use mats and easi-bed. evening muck out feed and bring in is £6--holiday cover type.
we also have to pay £12 for worming( i think every 8 weeks) as every horse gets done by yo with same schedule and wormer for season etc.

LoL I have been very slack and taken hardly any pics of Inde this summer - weather been too rubbish and have been concentrating on the foals!! Maybe now things are slowing down a bit I will try and get some new pics of the boys!!

And yes Alfie my little buckskin and white looks like he could be pretty similar to your boy when he's bigger!
