Sorry I never venture in here - but I thought you competition riders would know of a few yards!
(and sorry for double posting this elsewhere and so making some people read again :D )

Hey guys!

Yet another livery post I'm afraid (sorry!)

Basically I'm looking to expand my options - I've seen a few yards in Barnet and those surrounding areas, but I want to have a really good look around! I'm based in East/Central London, and I have a local train station which goes to all kinds of places. And, I have a car, so weekends etc I can drive (yay!)

As close and commutable to London as possible would be great - so around Potters Bar, Cuffley, Brookmans Park, Hadley Wood.. basically anywhere which you guys know of would be great!

In terms of livery I'd need 7 day assisted.
*Turn out (doesn't have to be 24/7), but it must be all year, and at least some every day.
*Arena - not bothered about indoors as long as it's all weather
*Some form of hacking would be great

...and that's pretty much it! Any recommendations would be great, knowledgable staff are a must. My horse is very easy to do, no vices etc, but I've been at horrible yards before, so his care is of the utmost importance!

Thank you all, if I've been unclear about anything, please don't hesitate to point it out.. PM if you prefer.
Thanks for reading again! Chocolate biscuits for any replies xx

Have you posted in the regional board? Although I confess I've never been there. Mi think I know some inf your area, certainly south Herts anyway.

Tabitha Perry has one in ridge village near south mimms, also in the same village is earls farm, it's maybe a more basic yard but they have a good outdoor school and great horse care.

Little munden near Bricket wood I would def recommend. Also in the same area is hill farm radlett and blackbird farm although I know less about blackbird. Fab hacking around there though. Netherwylde is the same area but that is mega fancy and mega bucks. But then most lively yards with full facilities etc will cost you a few bob in that area.

Coursers farm is about half way between those, has its own xc course and a new indoor.

Think they all need a car to access them unless you are v local or don't mind a schlep.

Re commutable ones - I don't have a car so do know a few that you can get to.

Hill farm and Model Farm are a train to Radlett and then a bus. Hill farm is lovely but quite pricey and spaces don't come up very often. It's one of the few yards I never hear a bad word about. Model is part of Blackbirds (two small yards run by the same people) but nearer the bus stop. I used to be there a few years back and it was great however it is being run by a different manager now and I don't know whether they offer 7 day livery.

What I found with the ones around Potters bar is that the bus I would need to get to the yards from the station stopped running about 5pm/didn't run Sundays so that was out.

I am currently at a small yard in Bayford which is one stop from Cuffley however the yard I'm on doesn't do 7 day livery but 5 day with catch in/turn outs at the weekend. You could also look at Bayford Hall Farm which is a bit more of a walk from the train station and offers all livery options.

There are a few advertising on Preloved at the moment or if you are on facebook there are several local herts livery groups.
