Hoping someone may be able to suggest some livery yards I could try? Current private yard has been sold to developers!

I'm based in Northwood so looking for yards in the surrounding areas.
Would be needing DIY livery for 2 well behaved horses. Somewhere for schooling needed and access to turn out.
Somewhere not within the emission zone would be preferred as have a lorry and compete regularly.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on how quickly you need to move. Equally on services etc you require. Best bet perhaps is to phone everything within the distance you're prepared to travel, to ask about spaces. Then you've narrowed it down to the yards that CAN take two horses asap, and that at least SAY they provide the services/facilities you want. Then post on here perhaps and people can PM you opinions on your options?

Thanks for the reply.

It is finding the names of places to try and ask that I am finding difficult. So many places don't exist anymore.

There have been lots of ads for livery and new yards at the tack shops but of course I was happy where I was so not paid much attention to them and now I need them there are no adverts!

The ones I know of are littlebourne, batchworth, pinnerwood, Catlips, patchetts. I know there are lots more as the surrounding areas are surprisingly horsey.

I don't need to move urgently but do need somewhere lined up.

I'm prepared to travel by car up to 20 mins possibly more from Northwood.

Thanks

Potten farm in chandlers cross are very good. They have everything you say you need. I have been there for a year and impressed with service. V close to m25 so perfect for eventing. Great Westwood xc is also a 5 min hack away.

I suspect this isn't quite the right area for you but I know of Cross Oaks, Earls Farm, one nearby run by someone called Tabatha so everyone round her calls it Tabatha's!, Northhaw, Woodhurst. The first three are kind of South Mimms/Ridge village way (Herts). Also Cowley Hill which is DIY. And Coursers Farm in Colney Heath but that may be more full livery arrangement.

There are a few smaller yards nearby which are more DIY focussed so I could ask around if you are still on the lookout.

Try fillers hill? Sheila's (cat lips) is close to a motorway but if your horse is fine with that it's a lovely area. I live around here so will keep an eye out! Rounds the bucks area there are hundreds of privately owned yards run by families etc with normally good facilities. Good luck!

Hi
There are lots of yards in Chorleywood but not sure of spaces. I'm at Fairfield Farm and think we're pretty much full at the moment. There are a number of DIY or Part Livery yards across the road in Farm Road. There is also Cross Lanes slightly further down which is very nice but don't think it does DIY. I also have a grass livery at Catlips but again they are pretty full and not much turnout for in horses.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

There are a couple there i knew about but had completely forgotten about!

Is Fairfield the place that had the equine spa a few years ago?

Unfortunately Horse House is in the midst of shutting down so very little on the noticeboard at the moment.

Harefield would be a handy location as is closeby and enroute to work too and only partially in the emission zone!

Chorleywood direction is on paper possible but i know if you time it wrongly heading over the m25 it can take forever so the Ricky side would be easier.

But really appreciate all the suggestions, shall check them all out and welcome any more ideas too....

Renting a yard would also be an option but over the years nothing has ever come to light but if you hear of anything please let me know- no matter how big or small.

Thanks everyone.

I would advise you to start contacting livery yards straightaway, as there are huge waiting lists at a lot of places. The yards I know are all in the Hillingdon area, but you may as well give these places a call:

- Littlebourne Farm, Harefield
- Abbeyfields, Hayes
- Lowdham Lodge, hayes
- Goulds Green, Uxbrdge
- Jack's, Ruislip

AP owns and runs the yard doesn't she??
