Hello
I am new to the Forum and wonder if anyone can recommend a yard in Sussex/Surrey area - I am renting in Horsham at the moment and going to be buying house soon.

I want to find a good well run yard with :-
A good Arena
Good Turnout
Hacking nice but not essential
Excellent care!

I have seen a couple but way too expensive >£130 a week for Part......is this usual in this area?? Being sensible, my budget is £85 a week. I sometimes need extras, but cant afford a full package.
The other "must have" is a nice friendly atmostphere and preferably not too competetive.
There seem to be loads of adverts, but I just dont know where to start and always think personal reccomendations are much better......
Thankyou in anticipation of your help - you all seem to be a very helpful crowd!

The surrey/sussex area is going to be more expensive than many other areas. My yard is £120 a week part livery, my old yard was even more than that. However facilities are good and there is nice hacking.

There are a lot of yards in this area though, it shouldn't be hard to find one that suits you.

What side of Horsham are you currently living? Warnham/Southwater/Crawley....

How far would you be prepared to travel to a yard? What would you want included for your £85 per week? Do you work in Horsham? Or do you work somewhere else, and would it be better to have a yard between work and home?

I know quite a few livery yards around Horsham, and I also know the ones to avoid. In that area, for £85 a week you will probably get your horse fed and turned out, his hay and feed included, but it will be up to you to bring him in and muck out etc.

Hi
Lots of yards to choose from and lots to avoid-its always so hard to find one even though there seems to be loads.

I can really recommend Natasha at Bolingbroke - in Bucks Green about 15 mins from Horsham .

Great facilities, all the extras including the walker, solarium, and brill school. Hacking is fine, though I dont do too much of that myself. Turn out is flexible and individual or groups are catered for.
Best of all she doesnt mind mad requests! Like make sure my horse has 3 Carrots at lunchtime and make sure he is only out in field if the temperature drops below 18 degrees!

Seriously, the Care is probably the best I have come across- she has only been there a few months and I think the previous manager was not all that good, and Natasha is really keen to provide a great service. Think she has an ad in at the moment on local freebies and in tack shops but please PM me if you want her number. Cost wise she is very good, compared to some of the mad rates in this area, and she is also able to school/ride for you+do the extras as well.

Good Luck wherever you go.
