We're on DIY. Brand new stables. Plentiful grazing. As much turnout as we like. Excellent hacking, loads of fields to ride in (it's a working farm). Farmers will always help out if we need it, and dont charge. Barley straw and great hay included in price (as much as we want). £25 per week. Bargain! Menage is possibly on the cards in the future too, which would make it perfect. We use a menage on a yard down the road at the mo - only charge £5 per hour.
we get:
- 12x12 american barn stabling
- 2 bales of flax
- use of facilities when avaliable (3 schools & a horse walker)
- Hay
- Feed (choice of H & P mix, alfa a, hi fi)
- Turnout (not between the beginning of Jan and end of March, roughly, and only group turnout)
(we do have alot of rules to follow though which is rubbish)
I used to pay £50 month per horse for diy livery & £10 for lorry parking. That was sole use of 9 acre field, stables & tackroom. No school but I could ride on the field & as it was a farm, direct access to bridleways.
Now the horses live at home, so no livery but £££££ mortgage...
£151 per month; 1.5 acres of private fenced grazing, field shelter, use of school, tea room, barn for tacking up etc, use of XC course, private hacking - okish....get hooves picked out in the morning & horse taken down to farrier - I'm resposnsible for the neat & tidy presentation of my field & its upkeep - bargain
£25 per week for DIY. Large hay bales £30, straw £1.50 per bale. £3 per day for part livery twice a week.
Turnout during day for as long as possible and large floodlit menage. Price also includes turning out (though I will bring in another horse too if they are coming in) and poo picking the fields..
DIY - £20/w first horse, £18/w second horse, £5/w trailer parking.
Get another stable for storage as well as a stable for each horse. Can buy in own my stuff or buy from them at reasonable prices - straw £1/bale, shavings £5.50/bale, hay £3/bale. Horses must be kept on combined system, but are turned out all year round. No electric, no arena, no riding in the fields, but the forest is 5 minutes up the road and there are bridleways even closer. Best of all, it is a 2 minute walk from my house
I am on DIY and I pay £80 per month and £8 trailer parking. This is for a stable, about 2 acre field, with free use of 20 x 40 outdoor manege. I do everything myself as I don`t like anyone else doing my horse although they will fetch in/let out for you if you require.
DIY, £25 p.w, includes stable, turnout in paddock with one other horse, unlimited use of 20 x 40 menage, 20 x 40 indoor arena, jumping field with full set of jumps (weather permitting), good hacking & local show about 1 mile away. All hay, shavings etc I buy myself.
DIY Livery, £45 per week.

I know its expensive, but it works for me and its on the way to work. The YO is a Dressage judge who teaches and is generally sorting us out. It's a lovely place to be.

I pay £20 p/w for DIY including stable/grazing although this is restricted to a small exercise paddock between December and April. My stable is big and located in a large American barn with the other liveries, also has rubber matting provided. On top of that I pay £10 p/w for straw and £11 p/w for (good quality) haylage in winter. Don't pay anything in summer as horse is out 24/7. Livery includes use of outdoor school, indoor school when not in use, use of jumps and trailer parking.
No real rules to follow, friendly atmosphere, laid back YO who is usually around to help and provide expert advice, excellent unaffiliated SJ leagues on site, good links to local riding club. Plus all the convinience of a regular farrier, worming done for you, fields maintained etc etc. And Pontispool is just down the road!
I'm on full livery and pay about £80 pw, although it comes down to £45 pw during the summer.
It's a teaching school so it's a fantastic place to stable your first horse. It includes:
- hard feed, hay and straw
- ridden exercise or lungeing or turn out
- alarmed tack rooms
- own groom who will adore your pony for you when you're at work
- choice of 2 indoor schools or 3 outdoor schools (1 is floodlit)
- private woods for hacking
- several fields for turnout
- general first aid (free if you have your own first aid kit)
- tack cleaning
- trailer/lorry park
- supervising vet/farrier/physio visits
- small restaurant serving drinks and food (and booze!)
- unaffiliated and affiliated shows to enter
- on site saddle club with monthly events
- a fantastic community!
This is my first horse so like I say, it's an ideal place to learn more about horse ownership rather than be flung in the deep end. I'm currently doing a horse care course there which could lead onto doing BHS quals.
I really like it. There are some rules but they're not restrictive and don't get in the way of enjoying my boy!
Goodness some of you pay tonnes!
I pay £10 a week for DIY which includes a stable, three big fields which in one will have all the horses while the other two are resting so we always have grazing! Its got a jumping paddock which your allowed to turn your colts out in as well as ride in, excellent forest hacking, school 5mins down the road, caravan with a heater and tea making facilities. And the best thing is NO RULES!!!
xxx
I'm moving mine next week end- yipee!!
It will be £27 per week including unlimited hay/haylage and straw. We get a stable (12 x 12 in nice barn), individual turnout (but mine are in together) rotated summer and winter, 20 x 40 menage, 20 x 20 lunge pen, horse walker by next winter.
Also good hacking around farm and locally and little jumping field and a grass dressage arena in the summer.
Fingers crossed its as good as it sounds!
Oh, and YO does fetch in/turn out and feed for £1.50 per horse- which is lucky as its 12 miles from me so going to have them brought in 2 days a week to save a trip!
Full use of school with jumps / dressage markers / etcetc
Lovely big airy stables
Grass gallops and x/c jumps (not a course though)
24/7 turnout if wanted
As much hay / haylage as needed
Fab hacking
YM on site
Worming programme.
We pay extra for feed and bedding and to use the school privately for a lesson
I pay £35 p/w in winter on DIY (£30 for ponies) and £20 in summer living out but can still bring horses in if you want for same price.
But that includes ab-lib haylage, unlimited turnout in very large fields, use of large menage, drink making facilities, 14 x 14 stable in newly built barn (we were first ones in!), excellent hacking, washing facilities, jumping field, owner turns out or puts a hay net up for me every morning, brings in at night if I'm not around and she'll bring in during the day if they're stood by the gate desperate to come in. If for whatever reason you can't get up its no problem, she does your horse for you without charge! Will give you a lesson (for free) or just help you if you're in the menage and they're around. Nothing's ever a problem and owners are very easy going, no rules just do what you want when you want, they check them all at night and during the day if it turns out hot will go and take rugs off the horses even if they're fields away, will go and put rugs on when its raining. Free box / trailer / caravan parking on site. Medium sized yard - about 24 horses (a few in foal mares as well) but most people have 3 or 4 horses so not too many owners and everyone gets on together, really friendly atmosphere, parties and bbq's held at yard and organize yard events in summer.
DIY i pay £300 a month for two horses. I do every thing myself tho, however YO will catch in on the odd occasion for free if you are desparate.
We get:
use of all weather floodlite menage all the time
lorry parking
unlimited haylage
two individual paddocks (one for each of my competition horses)
all off road hacking for miles and miles
stables (obviously)
i also now have my own private feed/rug room at no extra cost.
Stable with individual tack room attached to the back, floodlit outdoor menage with jumps. 24/7 grazing in summer, daytime grazing in winter. Can ride in loads of fields in summer aswell. Good hacking, option to pay £1.50 per day for rug change and turnout.
Only downfall is our yard is very muddy in the winter especially lane to field and knee high in some places. Also menage is not the most level of surfaces.
First one down yard feeds all the horses (about 40) as we just leave breakfasts outside.
wow sounds great, I'd love not to have huge water buckets to fill, i pay £30/week for stable, grazing (limited as poached at moment) hay and straw and use of indoor area for turnout/stabling. we can school in one of the fields and there are tracks and fallow fields for hacking
At the moment. I am paying £20 a week for V, £20 a week for Summer and £10 a week for lily.
That include huge indoor stables (the two little ones share). Turnout all year round. Use of a crap 20x40 school!
I have to buy hay and straw on top.
As from teh 4th of April. I will be paying
£33 a week for Viento.
£33 a week for Summer and lily (again, they are sharing).
On top of this, I have to pay £18 a month for hay and £18 a month for straw for Viento AND, the same again for the girls.
There is plenty of room for my lorry. The grazing is to die for, the school is huge and, again, amazing. There are 2 steps of show jumps and a small x country course. Plenty of storage, washing machine on site, etc etc and the groom lives on site.
Its a hell of a jump for me but, it is closer to home.
I pay £30/week for stable (in a barn) and grazing (as much/little as I want, out every day all year, P&R fencing, 24/7 1st May-1st October, mares geldings separate, small groups), use of floodlit outdoor scool, jumping paddock and XC in season, fantastic hacking straight onto bridleway (no roadwork), someone on site nearly all the time.
I then pay £5/week for as much haylage as I want. The price depends on the size of your horse! Bedding and feed is ordered in from local supplier and we pay the price that the supplier charges.
