Hi,

I've been lurking for a while, but I've emerged with a desperate plea for help! I have recently got back in to riding after a five year break, and I am really keen to own my own horse again. My husband has agreed we can move to somewhere suitable... but we can't find anywhere!

We need to be within an hours commute of the City (my office is Liverpool Street way), I would like part or full livery, house prices that aren't too horrifc, and most difficult I need to be able to live within walking distance of public transport and stables as I can't drive.

Any suggestons would be incredibly gratefully received!

thanks!

There a quite a few on the outskirts of London.
The Londond Equestrian Centre & Frith Manor are next door to each other in Mill hill(bus routes past and a short walk from Mill Hill East tube) Trent Park as mentioned is another good one and Barnet Riding Centre if you want "no frills" is not far from High Barnet tube.

I work in the City and live in Brentwood, Essex and the line from Shenfield is fast into Liverpool Street (22mins), the service is pretty good and then I am able to walk to work from L'pool St. There are loads of yards around the Brentwood / Chelmsford area (have a look in Essex Rider or visit Ingatestone Saddlery for vacancies), there are also quite a few good comp venues if you want to compete. The problem will be finding a yard where you can walk to the station and the yard - how about cycling that might make things easier?

There are a couple in Chislehurst, Kent with a good train link into Cannon Street.

House prices are pretty high there though.

Anywhere on the Liverpool St to Southend line.....Rayleigh, Hockley, Ashingdon spring to mind all about an hour to the City. A lot cheaper than Kent

Loads of livery available in those areas, everything from grass to full.

There's also the Fenchurch Street line.

thanks so much for all the suggestions! I will have to get googling.

It would make it much easier if I could cycle - but I'd only want to do it if the roads were really quiet. My eyesight is too bad for driving so I'm a bit of a liability on a bike. The advantage of horses is that they do a lot of the seeing for you

It would all be so much easier if I could drive as there are so many lovely places out Essex/Kent way - but not many near a station!
